Puducherry Schools to Reopen for Classes 9-12 from October 5; Guidelines Here

September 28, 2020: Puducherry Education Department has announced the re-opening of schools for higher classes for holding doubt clarification sessions. The session will begin for class 10th and 12th from October 5, 2020, and from October 12, 2020, for class 9th and 10th.

According to the Unlock 4.0 Guidelines for school reopening issued by the central government, schools will reopen for students of classes 9th to 12th for non-containment zones. The submission of written consent from parents is mandatory for students to attend the class.

States and Union Territories schools can only permit 50% of their teaching and non-teaching staff. During the coronavirus pandemic, schools are not permitted to conduct any outdoor activities, assemblies, sports, and events that may cause overcrowding of students.

Schools will hold classes for doubt solving sessions only. The class-wise scattered schedule will be allotted to students to avoid overcrowded situations on school grounds.

Unlock 4.0 Guidelines for Schools

According to the Unlock 4.0 Guidelines, schools will be partially reopened from classes 9th and above for doubt solving sessions in the country from October 21, 2020, after getting approval from their respective state governments.

A detailed set of guidelines and precautionary measures has been issued by the central government. The key points of guidelines released by the central government are as follow:

Social, Academic, Sports, Entertainment, Cultural, Regional and political functions are not permitted with a ceiling of 100 people.
States and Union Territories are permitted to allow 50% of the teaching and non-teaching staff to return to school. Online learning classes will continue.
Students from classes 9th and above located outside the containment zones are permitted to visit the school campus on a voluntary basis.
Social distancing is to be followed inside and outside the school campus, School staff and students must wear the face mask.

According to these guidelines, many states have reopened their schools partially for doubt solving sessions while others are still in the process to reopen schools.
