Schools in Mizoram to Reopen for Classes 10, 12 from October 16; Check Details Here

MIZORAM: Officials from the Mizoram School Education have announced to re-open the Schools from October 16, 2020. In the light of Covid-19, the schools will only be opened for Class 10 and 12 Students according to the Mizoram State Government

Union Home Ministry announced to re-open the schools after October 15, 2020. Schools will be opened on the basis of affected areas of the state.

State Education Minister Lalchhandama Ralte conducted a meeting for this matter. In the meeting, School Education Department Director, Representatives of Central Young Mizo Association, student bodies and Other Stakeholders were invited to give their suggestions.

The meeting concluded with reopening schools only for Class 10 and 12 Students. The rest of the classes were to continue with virtual Learning.

SOP Issued for Reopening Schools

A separate Operating Procedure has been issued by the Education Department for the Education Institutions and the Students to follow strictly. The school premises and hostels are to be supervised by the officials.

Students who have been tested negative in the Covid-19 rapid antigen test will only be allowed to enter the Schools and Hostels. The same goes for the faculties.

The Mizoram State Government has earlier allowed to re-open schools for a brief period of time. From September 21, 2020 the students from class 9 to 12 were given a chance to counsel with the faculties on the curriculum.

Students were allowed conditional visits to the Educational Institutions.

The Partial opening of Schools is to be continued till the next meeting which will be held in Mid-November, 2020. The purpose of this meeting will be to discuss the re-opening of the primary and high schools considering the Covid-19 situation at the time. The Department has also organized Online Competitions, Weekly Worksheet and Digital Classes during the crucial time of Covid-19 to overcome the gap.

The academic session has also extended and the Committee will be releasing the final decision shortly.
