TNEA 2026 Counselling Dates Still Awaiting AICTE Approval at tneaonline.org; Check Latest Schedule

The Directorate of Technical Education (DoTE), Tamil Nadu has not yet announced the full Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) 2026 counselling schedule. The choice filling, seat allotment and reporting dates remain on hold. DoTE is waiting for clearance from the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) on the official portal at tneaonline.org.

TNEA is the centralised admission process for Bachelor of Engineering (BE) and Bachelor of Technology (BTech) seats in Tamil Nadu. It covers over 400 colleges affiliated to Anna University. Admission is purely merit-based on Class 12 Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) marks.

What the DoTE Notification Says

According to the latest update from DoTE Chennai, registration has been extended to June 5, 2026. The department has confirmed that counselling round dates will follow only after AICTE approval. Until then, candidates can complete the pre-counselling steps as scheduled.

The early stages of the process are already running on time. Random number allotment, certificate verification and the rank list dates remain firm. Only the later rounds are on standby.

Why Is AICTE Approval Needed?

AICTE clears intake numbers and programme approvals for technical institutions every year. State counselling bodies need this clearance before allotting seats. Without it, DoTE cannot publish the final intake matrix for each college.

This year, the AICTE approval cycle has run later than the state schedule. As a result, the seat matrix and round-wise dates are still being finalised. DoTE has assured candidates that the dates will be uploaded on tneaonline.org as soon as approvals come in.

TNEA 2026 has already crossed 2.5 lakh registrations within 26 days of opening. The surge is driven by uncertainty around NEET and a steady interest in engineering. Over 2 lakh BE and BTech seats are on offer across more than 400 colleges.

How Is the TNEA 2026 Rank Calculated?

TNEA does not require an entrance exam. The rank is based on a 200-mark cut-off derived from Class 12 PCM marks. Mathematics is counted out of 100 and Physics and Chemistry are taken as 50 each.

The provisional rank list will be released on June 29, 2026. Candidates can raise grievances during the window from June 30 to July 4, 2026.

1. Visit the official portal at tneaonline.org.
2. Click on the candidate registration link.
3. Fill in personal, academic and communication details.
4. Upload scanned copies of Class 10, Class 12 and category certificates.
5. Pay the registration fee through the available online modes.
6. Submit and download the confirmation page for records.

1. Complete registration on tneaonline.org by June 5, 2026.
2. Upload all required documents by June 6, 2026.
3. Track your slot for certificate verification between June 8 and June 20, 2026.
4. Note your random number on June 10, 2026 for tie-breaking.
5. Check the provisional rank list on June 29, 2026 and raise grievances if needed.
6. Keep visiting the portal for the choice filling schedule after AICTE approval.
