Tripura Government to Reopen Schools From October 5; Check Details Here

The Tripura government has decided to initiate a partial reopening of all 4,400 schools from October 5. Abiding by the guidelines issued by the government for Unlock 4.0, schools for classes 9-12 will be reopened for only doubt solving sessions.

On Friday, September 26, 2020, in a high-power committee meeting of the Education Department, the state cabinet agreed-upon partial reopening of schools. However, schools in containment zones will be closed until further notice from the state government.

SOPs for Doubt Sessions

Students from class 9 and above can report to schools voluntarily for solving their doubts. Earlier, Tripura Education Department also launched online classes via local TV channels. Though the Tripura government advised students to opt for online classes.

The state cabinet also announced that educational institutions must have to follow the standard operating procedure for safer conduct of schools. All schools must be sanitized before re-opening. A face mask is a must for everyone inside the school campus.

There should be a facility for hand sanitization installed in the school. During doubt solving sessions social distancing is to be followed strictly.

However, the state government decided not to allow the reopening of schools that fall under any major or minor containment zones as identified by the state health department.

Only 50% of Teachers allowed

Adhering to Unlock -4 guidelines, the state government has stated that only 50% of teaching and non-teaching staff would be allowed to visit school premises to conduct doubt solving sessions on a rotatory basis. On other hand, Students have to carry mandatory written consent from their parents.

In early August, the Tripura Department of Education also commenced offline classes with a 1:5 teacher-student ratio. Though, the decision was pulled back due to an upsurge in COVID-19 cases.
