UP Board has introduced the NCERT-based syllabus for class 11 of the commerce stream, five months after the beginning of the new academic session.
The state guideline stated that the NCERT-based syllabus for class 12 of commerce stream students would be introduced in over 28,000 schools affiliated to the board across the state from the next session.
During the meeting, the UP Board officials added that the first class 12 exams based on the NCERT syllabus of commerce would start in 2022.
While for the arts and science stream, the board already proposed the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) syllabus-based books.
Special secretary (secondary education) Aryaka Akhouri through an order dated September 18 addressed to state secondary education directorate as well as UP Board informed the approval and details of the change, said UP Board secretary Divyakant Shukla.
His statement added that the approval came in response to a proposal submitted by the UP Board on August 28, 2020.
According to the old syllabus approved by the board, one compulsory subject of Hindi or general Hindi, bookkeeping, and accountancy and business organization and correspondence was provided.
The other choice given was out of the two, economics and commercial geography, banking elements, industrial organization, mathematics and elementary statistics, computer and insurance principles, and behavior besides two subjects out of the humanities stream.

On the other hand, the new syllabus directs that students would now have three compulsory subjects including general Hindi, business studies, and accountancy.
The official said that the optional subjects would be out of economics, English, mathematics, and computer.
The UP Board on April 1, 2018, had introduced the NCERT syllabus to 18 students in schools affiliated to the state.
In 2019, around 41,612 commerce students registered in class 9 and 71,834 students registered in class 11.
