The Kurt Hansen Science scholarship is presented by the Bayer Science and Education Foundation. The scholarship is awarded to students from German-speaking countries and other countries who wish to study abroad.

Eligibility Criteria

Prospective applicants for the Kurt Hansen Science scholarship are expected to meet eligibility criteria listed below:

  • Both international and students from german-speaking countries are eligible.
  • Must be teacher training students from Biology or Chemistry.
  • Must be committed individuals willing to put the effort into his/ her project work, conduct in-depth research and participate in internships.
  • Must submit a research project and the topic for the same should be innovative.

Application Process

To complete the application process for the Kurt Hansen Science Scholarship, students must complete an application form. It must be supported by the following documents:

  • The innovative international research proposal accompanied by a confirmation letter from the host university of the candidate.
    • It must describe with a financial plan for the specific timeline which must be within 2 to 12 months.
    • The project work can consist of some special courses, assignments required to be carried out in laboratories, research, internships, Masters or Ph.D. programs.
  • Academic Transcripts
  • Job application photo of the applicant.
  • Updated CV.

The complete application along with documents must be sent before the deadline to be considered for the scholarship.


Selection Process

The Kurt Hansen Science scholarship is given to the professionals who wish to complete a research project abroad or work on a project in Germany.

  • The scholarship is awarded on the basis of need.
  • The selection of the recipient is done by the Board of Trustees of the Bayer Foundation based upon the assessment of the application and the amount requested.

The scholarship is provided in installments according to a pre-agreed plan. The applicants who are able to display commitment and dedication towards their project plan are usually selected for this award.

Kurt Hansen Science Scholarships are provided to young professionals from all around the world. Students who wish to study in Germany and pursue research works can apply for the same.

Student teachers in Biology and Chemistry who wish to pursue study projects, internships, summer courses, as well as supplemental courses of study, are eligible to apply.

  • The program duration ranges from 2 to 12 months.
  • The scholarship covers the cost of living, travel costs and incurred project costs up to 20,000 EUR.
