Bournemouth University fees for Indian students depend on level, fee year, and the intake that remains workable for visa processing. Bournemouth University (BU) publishes separate postgraduate and undergraduate fee schedules. All Indian currency values use the Indian rupee (INR). Postgraduate (PG) tuition starts at £18,900 (INR 24.60 Lakhs) for 2026/27 entry. The highest published taught PG band reaches £23,000 (INR 29.94 Lakhs). Undergraduate (UG) tuition ranges from £19,635 (INR 25.56 Lakhs) to £24,150 (INR 31.43 Lakhs) annually. Master of Science (MSc) Data Science & Artificial Intelligence is a high-interest option. Its 2026/27 fee card lists £20,685 (INR 26.92 Lakhs).

Bournemouth University’s guide uses £900 (INR 1.17 Lakhs) to £1,300 (INR 1.69 Lakhs) monthly. The figure covers accommodation, bills, groceries, and other expenses. University accommodation, meaning halls managed or partnered by BU, comes first because listed rents include ResLifeBU and a bus pass. Private leases usually last 11 months. Non-university housing adds bills of £64 (INR 8,330) monthly plus transport.

The MSc Data Science & Artificial Intelligence budget is INR 42.72 Lakhs to INR 48.96 Lakhs. It includes tuition, living costs, the visa, and a one-year IHS comparison. It excludes travel, setup, books, deposits, and optional placements.

The conversion uses one rate: 1 British pound (GBP) = INR 130.16 on 26 August 2026, from open.er-api.com.

January 2027 Intake: the realistic route for new visa applicants

Intake: September 2026 courses start on 21 September 2026, too soon for a new Student Visa application from India. Allow 3-8 weeks for visa processing. January 2027 PG courses start on 25 January 2027, while September 2027 is the next broad UG route. The undergraduate Business and Management course also lists January 2027.

Fee update: The 2026/27 taught PG band starts at £18,900 (INR 24.60 Lakhs). It reaches £23,000 (INR 29.94 Lakhs). Featured PG pages list £19,688 (INR 25.63 Lakhs) or £20,685 (INR 26.92 Lakhs). UG fees range from £19,635 (INR 25.56 Lakhs) to £24,150 (INR 31.43 Lakhs). The 2027/28 fee is not published.

When to pay: Pay £5,000 (INR 6.51 Lakhs) for most regions. The amount is £8,000 (INR 10.41 Lakhs) for Haryana and Punjab. The offer letter gives the deadline. BU does not publish one central deposit date.

Scholarships: BU Music and Sport awards for January 2027 close on 30 November 2026. Academic Excellence offers £4,500 (INR 5.86 Lakhs) automatically. Academic Achievement offers £2,000 (INR 2.60 Lakhs) automatically. The external Indian awards checked here are closed or unavailable for UK study.

Bournemouth University Tuition Fees by Programme

Fifteen fee-table rows show two different cost decisions: one-year PG tuition and three-year UG tuition.

Bournemouth University Postgraduate Fees: 2026/27 Entry

Ten current PG programmes cost £19,688 (INR 25.63 Lakhs) or £20,685 (INR 26.92 Lakhs). Each listed route lasts one full-time year. A Master of Science (MSc) and Master of Arts (MA) use separate course pages. The table uses the September full-time route.

Tuition is charged annually for these postgraduate programmes.

MA Digital Effects1 year full-time, September£19,688 (INR 25.63 Lakhs)£19,688 (INR 25.63 Lakhs)

Indicative full-course tuition uses the current annual fee for the one-year September route at unchanged current rates.

  • The annual fee excludes accommodation, living costs, visa charges, IHS, books, and optional placements.
  • January 2027 Data Science, Cyber Security, Information Technology, Media & Communication, and Digital Health routes last 16 months.
  • January 2027 Foundations of Clinical Psychology and Sport Management routes also last 16 months.
  • Mechanical Engineering’s January route lasts 18 months, while Computer Animation and Digital Effects list September starts.
  • The January route may create a second academic-year tuition liability because BU charges tuition annually.

For the next course decision, review Bournemouth University programme choices and intake filters.

Note: Bournemouth University tuition is annual, not a guaranteed programme total. January routes extend beyond one academic year, so the offer letter controls the final fee liability.

Bournemouth University Undergraduate Fees: 2026/27 Entry

Five UG programmes cost £19,635 (INR 25.56 Lakhs) or £20,685 (INR 26.92 Lakhs) annually. A Bachelor of Arts (BA), Bachelor of Science (BSc), and Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) are listed. Applications use the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS) route. Each full-course figure multiplies the current annual fee by three years.

Tuition is charged annually for these undergraduate programmes.

BEng (Hons) Robotics & Autonomous Systems3 years full-time, or 4 with placement, September£20,685 (INR 26.92 Lakhs)£62,055 (INR 80.77 Lakhs)

Indicative full-course tuition uses the current annual fee multiplied by three years. It is not a future-fee forecast.

  • Business and Management is £1,050 (INR 1,36,668) below the £20,685 (INR 26.92 Lakhs) mainstream band.
  • Placement years are separate fee events and are not included in the three-year totals.
  • Most listed UG courses show September 2027 as the next intake after September 2026.
  • Business and Management also lists January 2027, which gives one undergraduate route before September 2027.

Bournemouth University Fee Trend by Year

The published lower end of BU’s international UG band rose 5.0% from 2025/26 to 2026/27. This is a band comparison, not a single course history.

YearUG fee lower bound (GBP and INR)UG fee lower bound (INR)YoY %
2025/26£18,700 (INR 24.34 Lakhs)INR 24.34 LakhsBase year
2026/27£19,635 (INR 25.56 Lakhs)INR 25.56 Lakhs+5.0%
  • The comparison uses the lower bound of BU’s published international UG range.
  • The upper bound moved from £19,700 (INR 25.64 Lakhs) to £24,150 (INR 31.43 Lakhs).
  • That upper-band change equals 22.6%, so course choice matters more than the lower-bound trend.
  • Use the latest published fee year until BU releases 2027/28 rates, then rerun the totals.

Key Insight: January 2027 PG applicants should budget from the 2026/27 rates now. September 2027 UG applicants should not freeze £20,685 (INR 26.92 Lakhs), because the next fee year is unpublished.

  • BU halls range from 40 to 50 weeks, while private rented accommodation usually runs 11 months.
  • Chesil, Cranborne, Lyme Regis, and Okeford list international guarantors as accepted.
  • Private housing needs separate budgeting for £295 (INR 38,397) bus travel and £768 (INR 99,963) annual bills.
  • BU publishes no private rent average, so residential Bournemouth and Poole locations remain commute options.

Note: The £900 (INR 1.17 Lakhs) to £1,300 (INR 1.69 Lakhs) guide is a living benchmark. It is not a billed cost of attendance and excludes tuition, visa charges, deposits, travel, and setup costs.

Use the 42-week hall figure for an academic-year budget, then add private-lease weeks when applicable.

Currency Tip: January 2027 payments can take up to one week through Flywire or four weeks by bank transfer. September 2027 applicants should keep the same transfer buffer before each fee deadline.

Total Cost of Studying at Bournemouth University

The representative PG budget starts at INR 42.72 Lakhs with low living costs. The average reaches INR 45.84 Lakhs. The high case reaches INR 48.96 Lakhs.

These totals use MSc Data Science & Artificial Intelligence tuition and twelve months of living costs. They include the Student Visa fee and a one-year IHS comparison. Every scenario uses £20,685 (INR 26.92 Lakhs) tuition and £1,334 (INR 1.74 Lakhs) in mandatory fees.

The UK Student Visa fee rules list £558 (INR 72,629). The student IHS rate is £776 (INR 1.01 Lakhs) per year.

  • The low living assumption is £900 (INR 1.17 Lakhs) monthly.
  • The average living assumption is £1,100 (INR 1.43 Lakhs) monthly.
  • The high living assumption is £1,300 (INR 1.69 Lakhs) monthly.
  • The deposit is excluded from mandatory fees because it reduces the tuition balance.
  • The IHS cell shows one year, but the actual surcharge is paid upfront for the full visa duration.
  • Travel, accommodation deposits, setup costs, books, optional placements, and future fee rises remain excluded.

Tuition plus twelve months of living totals £31,485 (INR 40.98 Lakhs) to £36,285 (INR 47.23 Lakhs). These figures use unchanged current rates. An INR 50 Lakhs education loan at 10.5% for ten years implies an equated monthly instalment (EMI). The EMI is about INR 65,000 to INR 70,000 monthly.

Key Insight: For January 2027 and September 2027 starts, Academic Excellence can remove £4,500 (INR 5.86 Lakhs). No full-payment discount is published. Check the award before the second card instalment.

Bournemouth University Tuition Deposit and Payment Options

Bournemouth University requires a £5,000 (INR 6.51 Lakhs) deposit for most Indian applicants. The amount is £8,000 (INR 10.41 Lakhs) for Haryana and Punjab regions.

The published rule is level and region based, not a separate deposit for each course. The deposit forms part of tuition and is normally non-refundable.

Deposit examples and CAS timing:

A Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) is the document needed for a Student Visa. BU says delayed deposit payment can delay CAS issuance.

Methods of payment:

  • Debit or credit card payments can take up to four days to reach BU.
  • Flywire is BU’s named international payment provider, and payment can take up to one week.
  • International bank transfers can take up to four weeks and should not be used within eight weeks of course start.
  • Education loan disbursement needs lender coordination because BU publishes no loan-specific payment timetable.

Steps to pay the tuition fee for international students:

  1. Accept the Bournemouth University offer.
  2. Pay the deposit by the offer-letter deadline.
  3. Receive the CAS after BU records the payment and completed requirements.
  4. Pay the balance through the stated instalment schedule.
  5. Keep every payment receipt for the visa file.

Online card payments can use two instalments. BU takes 50% after deposits and discounts at enrolment, then 50% about three months later.

Note: For January 2027, the offer-letter deposit date controls CAS timing. The 30 November 2026 BU Music and Sport deadline comes earlier than any course-specific deposit date published.

Hidden Costs of Studying at Bournemouth University

Cash needed before arrival is about INR 9.07 Lakhs for most Indian regions. Haryana and Punjab PG deposits raise that minimum to INR 12.98 Lakhs.

  • January 2027 is practical for new PG visa applicants.
  • September 2026 is too close for normal visa processing.
  • The Student Visa fee is £558 (INR 72,629) for an application from outside the UK.
  • The student IHS rate is £776 (INR 1.01 Lakhs) per year. A 12-month course can create an 18-month liability.
  • For an 18-month IHS illustration, budget £1,164 (INR 1.52 Lakhs) before the visa application is submitted.
  • BU accommodation commonly requires a £250 (INR 32,540) initial payment.
  • BU lists course materials at £18 to £53 (INR 2,343 to 6,898) monthly.
  • International English Language Testing System (IELTS) retake costs are separate, and BU publishes no fixed provider tariff.
  • Bank transfer charges vary by bank and route, and BU publishes no fixed tariff.

Cash Needed Before Arrival: Most-region PG minimum is £6,972 (INR 9.07 Lakhs). It combines the £5,000 deposit (INR 6.51 Lakhs) and £558 visa fee (INR 72,629). It adds £1,164 IHS (INR 1.52 Lakhs) and £250 housing payment (INR 32,540). Haryana and Punjab PG minimum is £9,972 (INR 12.98 Lakhs).

Budget approximately INR 9.07-12.98 Lakhs for first-year hidden costs.

Note: The IHS is the hidden charge families most often miss. A 12-month PG route can require £1,164 (INR 1.52 Lakhs) upfront for an 18-month visa period.

Fee Saving Strategies for Indian Students

The largest documented reduction is £4,500 (INR 5.86 Lakhs) through BU’s automatic Academic Excellence Scholarship.

  • Use BU halls when the included bus pass and bills offset separate private-housing costs.
  • Degree-level Student Visa holders can work up to 20 hours weekly during term.
  • BU reports part-time earnings of £90 to £120 (INR 11,714 to 15,619) weekly. Jobs cannot fund visa proof.
  • Section 80E of India’s Income-tax Act concerns interest on eligible education loans. Confirm current eligibility before claiming relief.
  • Business and Management costs £19,635 (INR 25.56 Lakhs) annually.
  • Computing and engineering routes cost £20,685 (INR 26.92 Lakhs) annually.
  • The Graduate Route gives 18 months for applications made from 1 January 2027, not two years.

Tip for Indian Students: For January 2027 and September 2027 PG starts, use the highest-value lever. That lever is £4,500 (INR 5.86 Lakhs). Confirm the automatic award before paying the remaining tuition balance.

Is Bournemouth University Worth the Cost for Indian Students

Bournemouth University can be financially reasonable. The MSc Data Science & Artificial Intelligence first-year budget is INR 42.72-48.96 Lakhs before travel and setup costs.

Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings 2027 place BU at #801-850. Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2026 place it at #401-500.

THE’s 2026 subject bands place Business and Economics at #251-300 and Computer Science at #601-800. This supports stronger value for business routes than a generic computing claim.

The Graduate Route lasts 18 months for applications made on or after 1 January 2027. An INR 50 Lakhs loan at 10.5% for ten years creates an EMI. The EMI is about INR 65,000 to INR 70,000 monthly.

Payback depends on the role and salary secured after graduation. A guaranteed salary outcome should not be assumed.

For the next decision, compare Bournemouth University rankings and subject signals.

Key Insight: January 2027 is financially strongest when Academic Excellence reduces tuition to £16,185 (INR 21.07 Lakhs). Full tuition plus twelve-month living falls to £26,985 (INR 35.12 Lakhs) at the low end. The high end is £31,785 (INR 41.37 Lakhs). Visa and IHS remain outside this range.

January 2027 is the realistic PG entry for a new visa applicant. September 2027 is the next broad UG route. Bournemouth University’s PG first-year budget is INR 42.72-48.96 Lakhs before travel and setup costs. Academic Excellence can reduce tuition by INR 5.86 Lakhs. An INR 50 Lakhs loan implies EMI of about INR 65,000 to INR 70,000 monthly. Use the offer-letter deposit deadline and the 13 January 2027 UCAS deadline, 23:30 IST, to sequence funding.

Ques. What is the 2027 undergraduate application deadline?

Ans. Bournemouth University’s UCAS equal-consideration deadline is 13 January 2027 at 23:30 IST. Late applications may remain possible until 30 June 2027 if course places remain.

  • It was mixed our course was mostly focused on practical basis but we also had theory. They taught us the theory and we also practiced we had practice projects and that was practical. One every week we had practical sessions and other two days theory.
  • In my course of Directing Film and television I was only Indian student. But this year’s batch there are more Indian students compared to the ones in our batch. In our course there were 16 students and whole framework like producers, cinematography, script writing, directing, post production which is sound and editing altogether there were around 70 students

Fees

  • Fees was £17000. I had to pay £5000 before getting CAS one of the condition in conditional offer letter. We paid £5000 and then we directly paid the remaining which was £8250. Got a scholarship of £3250 from uni.
  • For accommodation it was in 3 part payments. It was weekly £187. Annually around £9000. Bus pass was also there which was around £250-300 for entire year. Bus pass was basically used to go around anywhere in zone A Bournemouth which included most of the Bournemouth. Rent was paid once three months.
  • Monthly expense used to vary if someone cooks at home and spends very little on takeouts and going out with friends they will spend around £300-350 minimum and ones who don’t cook a lot and party they spend around £500 minimum. In starting few months it is very expensive as we get duvet, pillows bedsheets, everything and basic groceries as well.

  • My course was mixed. The course was designed in such a way that we studied theory in classrooms, and we also had practical classes and a study tour. The positive part was that every faculty member used to focus on all the students during classes. There was nothing negative I noticed If I am being honest.
  • In a week, we used to have three-day classes, and classes would be of 1 hour each, and there would be 3 classes in a day. There were 60 students in my class. Out of 60, there were 16 students from India.

Fees

  • My full university fees was 14000 £
  • I paid 2000 before the admission remaining fees were paid in two parts between the semesters.
  • For Accommodation I used to pay 600 £ for a double bedroom with an attached washroom. It was a private accommodation which was situated at the center of Bournemouth town center
  • My monthly expenses were 600 £ room rent
    • 150 £ grocery
    • 20 £ phone recharge
    • 60£ for transportation
    • 100£ other

  • Best course syllabus to global industry standards. Industrial exposure was given on a weekly basis with networking opportunities and Bournemouth University's own BFX (Bournemouth Film Festival) showcasing studios and speakers from worldwide, with case studies and industry training too.
  • There was also a career fair. Digital Effects on a Postgraduate level is a highly intensive course. The classes happen Monday to Friday from 9 am to 6 pm. One or two hours of break in between. It requires intense discipline and time management to complete the assignments on time, as it is deadline-based. The university is extremely strict about copyright and plagiarism. The total number of students in my class was 44.

Fees

  • 18,000/-GBP for the course, three semesters. Accommodation fees and the cost of living are separate.

  • The syllabus was pretty updated for recent times. There were a lot of tasks and assignments given, which included lots of presentations and research papers' discussions, seminars, and guest lectures.
  • There were 45 students in my course, and our classes used to start from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm. The number of classes used varies each semester, but on average could say not less than 3

Fees

  • The fee was 16 Lacs INR, but I can apply for a scholarship for an international student.

  • Course was actually fairly straightforward and simple
  • It consisted of a lot of report submission alone, nothing practical
  • It showed me across a lot of infrastucture facilities related to sport that were present in the UK
  • 5 classes a week with around 1 or 2 classes a day. 2 hour classes in the afternoon mostly.
  • Around 6 - 8 Indian students were in the course along with me.

Fees

  • Fees for the entire year was 24,000 Pounds in which i had gotten a 2000 Pound scholarship. Other than this there were rent expenses which were 400 pounds a month and food expenses that can range between 300 and 400 pounds a month as well.
  • Students got free access to bus travel on University bus. Other expenses such as entertainment or sightseeing also cost a bit but not more than 100 pounds a month.

  • It was a mix of both theory and practical during the curriculum.
  • The lectures conducted were timely and engaging. There was a lot to learn and there was special activities conducted to make the session interactive.
  • There was one or two classes which were conducted on alternative days of a week. Students have a choice of choosing their subjects depending on the module they want to study.
  • The average number of students was 20-30
  • There were 3-4 indian students enrolled in the programme.

Fees

  • 15000 GBP for the admission of the course and the fees were yearly. 5000 GBP for the hostel, which had to be paid in instalments.
  • The monthly expenses were 250 GBP which was able to cover transportation, food and other amenities. I also took a part-time job on campus which helped me to cover for other expenses during emergency situations. I had to pay an extra 800 GBP for the placement services, as I had a placement option in my course.

  • Yes, the course was very relevant but no Industrial exposure was given. There were about 2 - 3 classes a day for 45 minutes each and the rest was practical use of tools. We had about 18-20 people in each selective (between Animation & Visual Fx and Msc. Tech Major)

  • The course curriculum was pretty beginner level. We started from the basics, which helped a lot of us. It was a mix of both theory and practical, but the focus was mostly on the practical aspect.
  • I would say the theory parts were mostly during the beginning of the year. I liked that they focused more on the practical part, which helped us have hands-on experience with the software early on.
  • There were around 90-100 students in my course but it varied in lectures/labs, as we were split into groups/combined with other courses.
  • Not more than 6-7 Indian students are in my course.

Fees

  • £14100 for 3 years for tuition; I got an academic excellence £1,500 scholarship in the first year only. This fee was for international students at that time.
  • We also need to pay for the Health insurance, once at the beginning of joining the course – somewhere around 1 1/2 or 2 lakhs at the time I was joining
  • The fees were charged at once at the beginning of every year to some international students.
  • Monthly expenses vary from person to person based on their way of living. Around £600 to £900 can be expected.
