Royal College of Art fees for Indian students require a postgraduate budget because the Royal College of Art (RCA) offers postgraduate study only. Indian rupee (INR) values make London costs comparable with an Indian budget. Postgraduate tuition ranges from £29,000 (INR 37.36 Lakhs) to £41,350 (INR 53.27 Lakhs) for 2026/27. RCA does not offer undergraduate degrees. The popular MA Design Products, a Master of Arts (MA), costs £38,650 (INR 49.79 Lakhs) for one year.
London living costs start at £1,483 (INR 1.91 Lakhs) monthly under the United Kingdom Visas and Immigration (UKVI) maintenance benchmark. Where College housing is offered, check availability, lease length, deposits, bills, and campus travel first. Private housing needs separate budgeting for bills, deposits, and commuting.
Using £38,650 (INR 49.79 Lakhs) tuition and £1,483 (INR 1.91 Lakhs) monthly living, MA Design Products totals INR 72.72 Lakhs for one year. The same route reaches INR 77.33 Lakhs at the £1,781 (INR 2.29 Lakhs) monthly Commonwealth stipend benchmark. The September 2027 fee remains unpublished, so 2026/27 rates are the latest official comparison until RCA releases 2027/28 rates.

London’s maintenance benchmark is £1,483 (INR 1.91 Lakhs) monthly, or £13,347 (INR 17.19 Lakhs) for nine months. A higher Commonwealth stipend benchmark is £1,781 (INR 2.29 Lakhs) monthly. RCA’s supplied facts do not include a category-level London housing breakdown. The table therefore separates the government maintenance minimum from the higher stipend benchmark.
| Expense | Monthly (GBP and INR) | Monthly (INR) | Annual or proof period (INR) | Notes for Indian Students |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| UKVI maintenance minimum | £1,483 (INR 1.91 Lakhs) | INR 1.91 Lakhs | INR 17.19 Lakhs for nine months | London maintenance proof benchmark |
| Calculated midpoint | £1,632 (INR 2.10 Lakhs) | INR 2.10 Lakhs | INR 25.23 Lakhs for 12 months | Midpoint between the two supplied benchmarks |
| Commonwealth stipend benchmark | £1,781 (INR 2.29 Lakhs) | INR 2.29 Lakhs | INR 27.53 Lakhs for 12 months | Scholarship stipend reference, not an RCA rent average |
Note: The £13,347 (INR 17.19 Lakhs) nine-month proof figure is not a full 12-month budget. A one-year course needs 12-month cash-flow planning unless the offer states otherwise.
Currency Tip: For September 2027 entry, keep the £2,000 (INR 2.58 Lakhs) deposit separate from living funds. Convert larger instalments in stages, because 2027/28 fees remain unpublished.

The course curriculum is comprehensive, encompassing all aspects of design thinking from conceptualization to implementation. Students are presented with six projects to hone their skills and enhance their learning. However, in my particular curriculum, one project was grouped with other disciplinary courses, resulting in a suboptimal outcome due to issues such as poor team bonding and communication, insufficient project duration, limited feedback sessions, and unrealistic project goals.
My total course fee is 32,000 pounds,
