Likes
- No regular lectures, 3 times a week
- Assignments were to be mostly typed and not written
- One could book group study rooms in the library for group discussions and studies
Dislikes
- Lack of focused teaching. You are on your own with learning and asking questions
- Lack of exposure (specifically in Msc. Cyber Security). Not many events conducted by the uni
- More theoretical curriculum than practical
- Friend referral. My friend stayed at HamCam and he recommended the place.
- The monthly rent was 396 GBP, including bills. The facilities provided were central and room heating, an oven, television, tv room within campus, a bar, turf, a church, a library, a washing machine area and instant damage replacements.
- No challenges. We had confirmed this from the start.
- Seek accommodation not too close to the university or city centre; that’s how you’d find it for cheap. The closer it is, the more expensive it gets.
- 30 mins by bus but we had a free bus pass for the entire year so it didn’t matter. Most indians stayed in the city centre or university accommodation, which was highly cost-inefficient compared to the facilities we were provided.

- Academic structure - the modules are beneficial to the current field
- Professors Guidance - They will always make sure the students understand the concept

Dislikes
- Expensive even after scholarship - I had received 40% discount and even after the scholarship it was expensive
- Project time limit has tight deadlines
- Exams are tough
- There is outside accommodation. I stayed with my relatives. Although I heard the university will help to find accommodation through student services. They will guide you through the procedure and payment. There are quite a few challenges if you stay in student accommodation, as it is expensive.
- I did not pay any rent. If you have a friend, you do not need to find roommates. My place is far. I took a bus or someone dropped me off. It is best to find the outskirts since it is expensive nearby the university.

- Lack of sports activities. There was only one football ground which was full everytime
- No diversity in major courses. As my course had people from
- India and china no British stidents
I found my accommodation off campus there are many online platforms to book your accommodation. Moreover you can find brokers near the university who help you find good accommodation. The rent in Birmingham varies from 300 pounds to 600 pounds based on the location near to university. Great experience

- The University was very welcoming. Made me and other students welcoming in a great accommodation.
- Great teachers/professors with good command on the subject made the entire journey in learning AI smooth and enjoyable experience
- Course structure - Structure of the course is designed to ensure you are industry ready and with constant theoretical and practical assessment its a seamless transition for a student to enter a corporate.
Dislikes
- Safety - This is one aspect that has to be careful of. Its gets little spooky after 9 PM. So one has to be slightly careful.
- Part time job - With so many students around, it can be slightly difficult to get an ideal part time job.
- Overall Cost - The cost can be slighly heavy on the pocket if one doesn't get scholarship and with extremely high cost of living , one has to be extremely careful on what he/she spends on.
- I stayed in University accomodation(Jarrat Hall). And monthly rent was close to 550 GBP for 2022-2023.
- with facilities of a shared kitchen with basic utensils and cutlery. Wi-Fi, contents insurance, and utility bills were all included. One needed to pay separately for using the washing machine.
- NO major challenges while using university accommodation, which was around 500m away from University campus

- Limited hands on workshop for certain technical subjects
- High living expense
- Limited elective choices for specialised technical fields
- I opted for off-campus accommodation (calthrope court), which I found through the university's help (they mentioned off campus accommodation associated with university).
- The rent was £5304 (£99 per week) for the year, including utilities and internet. Finding accommodation was straightforward as I applied early.
- It's conveniently located near the campus, just a few minutes' walk. I recommend future students book early to secure a good spot.
Likes
- There is a wide range of people - you can always find someone you connect with. Everyone is from different backgrounds and brings unique perspectives
- The careers team is amazing and very hands-on. You can book 1-1 meetings to discuss anything from CVs to mock interviews and feedback
- Nice social life. there is always something going on, so many societies you can participate in, you will never feel alone or homesick
Dislikes
- Accommodation is expensive. If you are particular about what type of accommodation you want - studio/ensuite it is very expensive
- No meal plan option - you have to either cook or get takeaway, theres no option to get a meal plan
- During exam time and the end of semester, spaces to study are limited. library is always full and places to do work, especially group work is very less
- On campus accommodation. very easy to find, university is very helpful. they guarantee accommodation for international students in year 1 so that helps. you can use uni website for information - very detailed. 3d view and youtube room tours are helpful.
- The best way to secure is by looking through carefully. recommend staying the vale village in year 1. it is 15 mins walk from uni a bit far but has a great sense of community. all 1st years stay there.

- First of all, the - Campus is a big campus and the most beautiful campus in Birmingham.
- It has everything on the campus that you would need. It has a very big and modern library, goods and drinks, stationery shops, cycling, printing, Lake greenery, ducks, etc.
- Supportive Staff, good brand name, cheerful and colourful Events, etc.
Dislikes
- Things that I disliked about my college were that there was a lack of clarity on how my academic journey would look like; what would be required from a student, and what a student should focus on during his or her journey.
- The second thing was huge class strength and international exposure, modules, and course syllabus.
- I booked university accommodation from their student living portal while sitting in India only. The monthly rent was about £600 including everything (bills). Challenges were that cheap accommodations got filled quickly.
- I would recommend taking private flats or apartments close to the university if you have a local guarantor to save about £200 per month as compared to the university's expensive flats having small rooms. My accommodation was a 5-10 minute walk from campus.
- Most of the Indian students usually stay in Selly Oak or the city center.
Likes
- Campus: Well-designed huge campus.
- Faculty: World-class faculty, some of them are high-ranked researchers in their respective fields.
- Research Facilities: State of art research facilities. Excellent support for learning research software
Dislikes
- Too many Indians: Some may feel that there are too many Indian students pursuing a Master's. But that is the case for almost all Universities in the UK.
- Few On-Campus Accommodations: Very few on-campus accommodations force the rest of the students to live far from campus.
- Huge Campus: Huge campus may sometimes act as a disadvantage, especially when you are late for class and have to run to make it.
- I found my accommodation from one of the agencies. They also offer cashback if you book through them. Once you go through an agency like Amber Student or uniacco very less to no challenges are faced.
- The monthly rent was 500 Pounds. All the bills were included, like the electricity bill and WIFI.
- My accommodation was situated right in the middle of the city center and university. It was 10 mins to the city center and around 12-15 mins to the University by bus.
Likes
- It has a comprehensive curriculum that offers both practical and theoretical frameworks which enhances teaching and prepares me for the real world.
- The faculty is very experienced and highly knowledgeable which makes learning more insightful.
- The university also provides excellent student support from hosting career workshops, networking events, mentorship events to guide students and help students who need help resolving their issues while pursuing their studies
Dislikes
- Large class sizes, there are almost 200-400 students for marketing and its difficult to seek individual interaction with professors.
- The finance team is very small and doesn’t resolve queries on time, making it difficult for students
- At times, there were delays or inconsistencies in communication from the administration regarding course changes or important updates.
- I opted for student accommodation outside campus so that I could travel easily to city for jobs since my university is in outskirts of the Birmingham city.
- My agent helped me find this accommodation and also alumni of the university recommended Belgrave view accommodation. My weekly rent is 154 including electricity and water maintenance. We have to pay in two installments.
- My accommodation is 30 minute walkable distance from university and 15 minutes via bus. One of the best places to stay if you choose University of Birmingham
Likes
- The university has a massive, scenic campus, with beautiful architecture and lush greenery. There are a lot of places for students to socialize, chill or study within the campus. There are plenty of options to get nutritious and healthy food on campus.
- The faculty in the computer science department are very knowledgeable. The course is a great opportunity for students to learn from some of the best minds in the field of computer science.
- The course content is challenging, yet rewarding. It has a good mixture of theory and practice, so that the students have a well-rounded subject knowledge.
Dislikes
- On-campus accommodations are a bit pricey, and are not great.
- The coursework might feel intense for people who are not well prepared.
- Students might face problems understanding the accents of some professors.
- I live in an off-campus accommodation. I applied for it through Amber Student.
- I pay 150 pounds a month. It includes rent, utilities and Wi-Fi. I also have access to a common lounge and a gymnasium.
- The accommodation is about 2 miles from my university and is closer to the city centre.
- One of the biggest challenges was lack of options. There weren't enough options near my university for me.
- My biggest advice to future students is to start looking for accommodations early on, as the more you wait, the more expensive they become.
- Try to find someone who lives in/near Birmingham to help you choose a good house in a good neighbourhood.
