The Bachelor of Science + Bachelor of Education (B.Sc. B.Ed.) at NIT Warangal is a 4-year Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) offered under the School of Education, aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The programme leads to a dual-major undergraduate degree in Education and a science discipline (Mathematics or Physical Sciences), preparing students for secondary-stage school teaching. The total programme duration is 4 years (8 semesters), with a seat intake of 50 seats per year. The annual tuition fee is Rs. 45,000 for General/OBC/EWS candidates. Admission is strictly through the National Common Entrance Test (NCET) conducted by NTA, making it one of the most competitive teacher education programmes in the country offered at a premier NIT.

Admission for the 2026-27 academic year is upcoming. NCET 2026 was conducted on April 17, 2026, and results are awaited. NIT Warangal's ITEP admission process (application, selection rounds, and fee payment) is expected to begin in June-July 2026, based on the 2025-26 schedule. Students are advised to regularly check nitw.ac.in for updates.

Key Points

  • The programme offers two specialisation majors: Mathematics (with a Minor in Computer Science) and Physical Sciences (Physics + Chemistry, with a Minor in Mathematics).
  • ITEP at NIT Warangal is the only such programme at an NIT in Telangana, offering a nationally recognised dual-degree qualification.
  • The programme is designed to qualify graduates as secondary-stage school teachers (Grades 9-12) as per the NEP 2020 framework, and from 2030, a 4-year B.Ed. will be the minimum qualification to become a teacher in India.
  • Students completing ITEP are also eligible to pursue higher studies (M.Sc., Ph.D.) in their respective disciplinary streams.
  • A minimum of 10 students must opt for a major for it to be offered; maximum 25 students per major.
  • The programme is fully residential and on-campus at NIT Warangal's 248-acre campus in Warangal, Telangana.

NIT Warangal B.Sc B.Ed FAQs

Ques. Is NCET score the only criterion for admission to ITEP B.Sc. B.Ed. at NIT Warangal, or is there a separate entrance test?

Ans. NCET (National Common Entrance Test) conducted by NTA is the sole entrance exam for admission to ITEP at NIT Warangal. There is no separate institute-level entrance test. NIT Warangal generates its own merit rank based on the average NCET percentile in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. In case of a tie, the percentile in the subject of the chosen major (Mathematics or Physical Sciences) is used as a tiebreaker, followed by date of birth (elder candidate preferred).

Ques. Can I choose my major (Mathematics or Physical Sciences) at the time of application, or is it decided after admission?

Ans. You indicate your preferred major (Mathematics or Physical Sciences) at the time of applying to NIT Warangal. However, the actual allotment of majors depends on the number of students opting for each major. A minimum of 10 students must opt for a major for it to be offered in a given year, and a maximum of 25 students can be accommodated per major. If your preferred major does not have enough takers, you may be allotted the other available major.

Ques. After completing B.Sc. B.Ed. from NIT Warangal, am I eligible to pursue M.Sc. or Ph.D. in science subjects?

Ans. Yes. The ITEP B.Sc. B.Ed. is a dual-major degree, and the disciplinary component (Mathematics or Physical Sciences) is equivalent to a B.Sc. degree. Graduates are eligible to apply for M.Sc. programmes in their respective disciplines at universities and IITs/NITs, subject to meeting the eligibility criteria of those institutions. They can also pursue Ph.D. programmes in education or their science discipline. This dual pathway is one of the key advantages of the ITEP over a standalone B.Ed.

Ques. Is hostel accommodation guaranteed for all ITEP students at NIT Warangal?

Ans. NIT Warangal is a fully residential campus with 16 hostel blocks, including dedicated hostels for boys and girls. While the institute makes every effort to accommodate students, hostel allotment is subject to availability. ITEP students are generally accommodated on campus. The hostel fee per semester is ₹43,000 for boys (double occupancy) and ₹42,000 for girls (triple/four occupancy), which includes caution money deposit, maintenance, seat rent, water/electricity, and mess advance.

Ques. What is the scope of the ITEP B.Sc. B.Ed. degree from NIT Warangal in terms of teaching jobs?

Ans. Graduates of ITEP B.Sc. B.Ed. are eligible to appear for teacher recruitment exams such as CTET (Central Teacher Eligibility Test) and state-level TETs for secondary-stage teaching (Grades 9-12) in Mathematics and Science. As per NEP 2020, the 4-year integrated B.Ed. will become the minimum qualification for school teachers by 2030, making this degree highly relevant. Additionally, the NIT brand and the rigorous academic environment at NITW give graduates an edge in competitive teacher recruitment processes at Kendriya Vidyalayas, Navodaya Vidyalayas, and state government schools.

Ques. What happens if I am allotted a seat in Round I but cannot pay the fee on time? Can I still get a seat in Round II?

Ans. No. As per NIT Warangal's admission policy, non-payment of the institute fee within the stipulated deadline in any round is treated as automatic withdrawal of the allotted seat. No further chance is granted in subsequent rounds to candidates who fail to pay in their allotted round. However, candidates who were not allotted a seat in Round I may be considered in Round II or the Spot Round if seats remain vacant. It is therefore critical to complete fee payment within the deadline once a seat is allotted.
