Kuvempu University is a public state university in Shimoga, Karnataka, India. It was established in 1987 by the act of the Karnataka state legislature through amendment No. 28/1976 dated 29 January 1989 under the Karnataka State University Act 1976. It offers undergraduate, post-graduate and Ph.D. programs in a wide range of disciplines. In addition to its five constituent colleges, the university has 99 Affiliated Colleges. The university has its headquarters at Jnana Sahyadri Campus, Shimoga.

Kuvempu University offers undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral, and diploma courses in various disciplines. It has 35 Postgraduate Departments in the Faculties of Arts, Commerce, Education, and Science and Technology. In addition to imparting education through regular mode, the university also provides the opportunity for distance learning through the Directorate of Distance Education, Kuvempu University.
The university offers admission to several PG/ PG Diploma programmes on the basis of candidate’s qualifying examination merit/ entrance test or both. Selection of candidates to B.P.Ed course is done based on their performance in the written test/ physical test.
Only candidates who satisfy the relevant eligibility criteria can register themselves by downloading the application forms available at the official website. Candidates can also obtain the application form along with the prospectus from the university office upon submitting the required fee through DD.
The university offers Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) program in various subjects including Mathematics, Physics, Biochemistry, Political Science, Social Science and languages such as Kannada, Hindi, English, and Urdu. Eligible candidates can apply by filling the concerned application form available online and submitting it along with the fee to the Chairperson of the concerned Department
Admission to doctoral programs is done on the basis of qualifying degree merit as well as candidate’s performance in the university entrance test. Upon successfully passing the test, the candidate should present the outline of their research work to the Chairperson of the concerned department. Eligible candidates can apply by filling the concerned application form available online and submitting it along with the fee to the Chairperson of the concerned Department.

The university offers Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) programme in over 30 disciplines through the respective faculties/ departments. Admissions to the programme will be done on the basis of candidate’s performance in the qualifying examination as well as marks scored in the university entrance examination.
Candidates who possess PG degree in the relevant or allied subjects can register themselves for admission to the M.Phil. programme by filling the prescribed application form and submitting it along with the processing fee through Demand draft (DD).
