BBAU B.Tech Lateral ECE FAQs
Ques. What is the total seat intake for B.Tech Lateral Entry ECE at BBAU?
Ans. BBAU offers six seats in the B.Tech Lateral Entry ECE programme at its Lucknow main campus. Of these, three seats are allocated to the unreserved category and three to the SC category. There are no EWS or paid seats in this programme. The small intake size means competition for each seat is high and merit in CUET-UG plays a decisive role in selection.
Ques. Can B.Sc. graduates apply for lateral entry in B.Tech ECE at BBAU?
Ans. Yes, B.Sc. graduates from a UGC-recognised university with at least 45% marks (40% for reserved category) and Mathematics at the 10+2 level can apply. However, B.Sc. stream candidates are admitted only to supernumerary seats, and their consideration begins only after all Diploma stream seats are filled. Additionally, B.Sc. entrants must clear Engineering Graphics, Engineering Drawing and Engineering Mechanics alongside second-year subjects.
Ques. What is the total fee for B.Tech Lateral ECE at BBAU?
Ans. The total fee for the three-year programme (six semesters) is INR 3,47,500. This includes tuition of INR 55,000 per semester, laboratory fees, examination fees, medical fees, annual levies for sports and library, one-time admission and enrollment charges, and refundable caution deposits of INR 2,000. SC and ST students receive a full tuition fee waiver under the University’s fee exemption policy.
Ques. Which CUET-UG subjects are needed for B.Tech Lateral ECE admission at BBAU?
Ans. Candidates must appear in any three domain subjects from Mathematics or Applied Mathematics, Computer Science or Informatics Practices, and Physics under CUET-UG. Selection to the B.Tech Lateral ECE programme at BBAU is based on CUET-UG scores in these chosen domains. Candidates may also include a language paper as part of their five-subject choice, though no language is compulsory for this programme.
Ques. How does BBAU B.Tech Lateral Entry differ from the regular B.Tech programme?
Ans. The B.Tech Lateral Entry programme at BBAU is a three-year course (six semesters) designed for holders of a Diploma or B.Sc. degree. Students are admitted directly to the second year, bypassing the first year of the standard four-year B.Tech. The curriculum begins with second-year engineering subjects. The total fee and duration are lower than the regular four-year B.Tech, but eligibility is restricted to those with a prior engineering or science foundation.
Ques. Does BBAU offer hostel facilities to B.Tech Lateral ECE students?
Ans. Yes, BBAU provides limited hostel accommodation for both boys and girls on its Lucknow campus, subject to availability and as per University allotment policy. Hostel allotment is separate from academic admission and is not guaranteed. Hostel fees are charged as per the Hostel Manual and are not included in the programme’s total tuition fee figure.
