AKTU M.Pharm FAQs
Ques. Is GPAT mandatory for AKTU M.Pharm or can candidates apply with CUET PG alone?
Ans. AKTU M.Pharm accepts both GPAT and CUET PG scores for admission via UPTAC PG counselling. GPAT is the standard national entrance exam for M.Pharm and also makes candidates eligible for the AICTE monthly fellowship of INR 12,400. CUET PG is an alternative for candidates who did not take GPAT. However, CUET PG-admitted students are not eligible for the AICTE GPAT fellowship since the scholarship is specifically tied to GPAT qualification. Candidates who qualify GPAT get both a merit-based admission advantage and the fellowship benefit.
Ques. How do the M.Pharm specialisations differ and which is most useful for industry careers?
Ans. Pharmaceutics focuses on drug formulation and delivery systems, relevant for formulation scientists and research and development roles in pharma manufacturing. Pharmacology suits candidates targeting clinical research or drug development. Pharmaceutical Chemistry aligns with synthetic chemistry roles in API manufacturing. Quality Assurance is directly applicable to QC/QA and regulatory compliance roles, which have steady industry demand. Drug Regulatory Affairs is a growing specialisation for roles in regulatory strategy at domestic and multinational pharma companies. Industry demand as of 2026 shows strong interest in Pharmaceutics and QA graduates across the UP pharma corridor.
Ques. Are AKTU M.Pharm graduates eligible to apply for pharmacy lecturer positions?
Ans. Yes. M.Pharm from a PCI-recognised institution meets the basic qualification for lecturer positions in B.Pharm colleges as per Pharmacy Council of India norms. AKTU-affiliated pharmacy colleges that carry PCI recognition satisfy this requirement. Candidates additionally need to check UGC-NET requirements for positions in universities and central institutions, as a NET qualification strengthens eligibility beyond the PCI baseline. State pharmacy services (Drug Inspector cadre) also prefer or require M.Pharm for senior positions.
Ques. What career options are available after M.Pharm from an AKTU-affiliated college?
Ans. Graduates can pursue roles in pharmaceutical manufacturing (formulation, production, QA/QC), clinical research organisations, hospital pharmacy departments, regulatory affairs, and pharma marketing. Uttar Pradesh has a substantial pharma manufacturing cluster, and graduates from AKTU-affiliated colleges in Lucknow and Kanpur often find roles locally. Drug Inspector positions via UPSC and state PSC pharmacy services, Assistant Professor roles in pharmacy colleges, and Research Associate positions at pharma companies are other common career paths. A PhD from a ranked university is a natural progression for research-oriented graduates.
Ques. How does the AICTE GPAT fellowship work and when does it start for admitted students?
Ans. The AICTE GPAT fellowship provides INR 12,400 per month to GPAT-qualified students enrolled in AICTE-approved M.Pharm programmes for the full 2-year duration. The fellowship is activated after the student submits the GPAT scorecard and admission confirmation to AICTE through the institute. Disbursements are made quarterly via direct bank transfer. The fellowship is contingent on maintaining satisfactory academic progress as per the institution’s norms. Students admitted through CUET PG are not eligible for this fellowship. The current fellowship amount and disbursement timelines are confirmed each year on aicte-india.org.
