MUIT Ph.D. (Science) Part Time Admission 2026-27

MUIT Lucknow conducts Ph.D. admissions (both full-time and part-time) typically once a year through a common admission process. Note: CSIR-NET is the primary qualifying exam for Ph.D. (Science) in disciplines like Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Biotechnology, and Mathematics. UGC-NET is also accepted. Candidates with valid CSIR-NET/UGC-NET scores may be exempted from the university's written entrance test.

Eligibility Criteria

• Candidates must hold an M.Sc. degree (or equivalent) in the relevant science discipline from a recognized university with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate (50% for SC/ST/PwD candidates).
• For part-time Ph.D., candidates are typically required to be employed/working professionals with a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their employer.
• Candidates with a valid CSIR-NET or UGC-NET score are preferred and may be exempted from the university entrance test.

Admission Process

• Step 1: Fill out the online application form at crm.muituniversity.in, selecting the Part Time mode, and pay the application fee.
• Step 2: Submit employer's NOC (No Objection Certificate) along with proof of employment for part-time Ph.D. admission.
• Step 3: Appear for the university-level written entrance test (offline, held at MUIT Lucknow campus). Candidates with valid CSIR-NET/UGC-NET scores may be exempted.
• Step 4: Shortlisted candidates are called for a personal interview and research proposal presentation before the Research Advisory Committee.
• Step 5: Final merit list is prepared based on entrance test score (or qualifying exam score) and interview performance.
• Step 6: Selected candidates complete document verification and fee payment to confirm admission.

MUIT Ph.D. (Science) Part Time Scholarships 2026-27

MUIT Lucknow offers merit-based scholarships to deserving students across programs. The university provides fee concessions of up to 100% for highly meritorious candidates based on their academic performance in qualifying examinations and entrance test scores. Part-time Ph.D. scholars who are employed and receiving salary may have limited eligibility for certain government fellowships; however, CSIR-JRF and UGC-JRF holders who are not in regular employment can avail the fellowship even in part-time mode subject to the respective agency's norms.

• Only one scholarship criterion will be considered per student (as per MUIT's disclaimer).
• Employed part-time Ph.D. scholars may not be eligible for CSIR-JRF/UGC-JRF fellowships if they are already drawing a salary; candidates should verify eligibility with the respective funding agency.
