RCU Palamu Lateral Polytechnic Civil Engineering: Fees 2026, Course Duration, Dates, Eligibility

Ans. Candidates must hold a 2-year ITI certificate in a relevant civil trade such as Surveyor, Carpenter, Mason, or a related construction trade from a recognised ITI. Candidates who have passed Intermediate Science with Physics and Mathematics are also eligible. Trade certificates in non-civil branches are not accepted.

Candidates from Jharkhand may participate in the JCECEB polytechnic lateral entry counselling conducted by the Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board. Diploma Civil Engineering holders can work as site supervisors, junior civil engineers, draughtsmen, or quality control assistants in construction, infrastructure, and government PWD departments. Many graduates also join state public works departments or private contractors. The lateral diploma also qualifies holders for direct second-year admission to B.Tech Civil Engineering.

Ans. Yes. Diploma holders from RCPI are eligible for B.Tech lateral entry (second year) programmes in Civil Engineering through JCECEB polytechnic-to-degree bridge admission. This is governed by AICTE lateral entry norms. Candidates must appear for JCECEB lateral entrance to seek admission to B.Tech at affiliated engineering colleges in Jharkhand.
