RCU Palamu Ph.D Medicine: Fees 2026, Course Duration, Dates, Eligibility

Ans. Candidates must hold a Master’s degree in Medicine, Medical Sciences, or an allied health discipline (MBBS, MD, M.Sc Medical Sciences, M.Sc Nursing, or equivalent PG degree) with a minimum of 55 percent marks (50 percent for SC/ST/OBC/PwD as per UGC norms). UGC-NET/JRF qualified candidates are preferred.

Ans. UGC-NET or JRF qualification in Life Sciences or Medical Sciences exempts candidates from the university’s own PhD entrance test. Candidates without UGC-NET must appear in the university entrance test. MD/MS degree holders are also exempted from the entrance test as per UGC PhD regulations.

Ans. The minimum fee for the three-year Ph.D. Medicine programme is INR 3,81,000. This includes annual tuition of INR 1,00,000 per year, examination fee of INR 10,000 per semester, and one-time charges of INR 1,000 (prospectus), INR 10,000 (admission), and INR 10,000 (registration) in the first year.

Ans. Research areas under Ph.D. Medicine at RCU include clinical medicine, medical microbiology, pharmacology, anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, pathology, community medicine, and allied biomedical sciences. Candidates must submit a research proposal aligned with available faculty expertise at the time of application.

Ans. UGC-JRF qualified candidates admitted to the Ph.D. Medicine programme are eligible for the UGC Junior Research Fellowship of INR 37,000 per month for the first two years, enhanced to INR 42,000 per month from the third year onward. Fellowship disbursement is managed by UGC directly.

Ans. The Ph.D. Medicine programme is a minimum of three years as per UGC PhD regulations, extendable based on research progress and faculty recommendation. Full-time scholars are expected to submit their thesis within the stipulated period, subject to pre-submission seminar and doctoral committee approval.
