Apollo University B.Sc. Imaging Technology FAQs

Ques. What is the difference between B.Sc. Imaging Technology and B.Sc. Medical Laboratory Technology at The Apollo University? Which is better for a career in hospitals?

Ans. B.Sc. Imaging Technology focuses on diagnostic imaging modalities such as X-ray, CT scan, MRI, and ultrasound, training students to operate imaging equipment and assist radiologists. B.Sc. Medical Laboratory Technology, on the other hand, focuses on laboratory diagnostics including blood tests, microbiology, and pathology. Both are 4-year programmes at The Apollo University. For students interested in working in radiology departments and imaging centres, B.Sc. Imaging Technology is the better choice. Both courses have strong career prospects in hospitals, diagnostic centres, and healthcare facilities backed by the Apollo Hospitals Group network.

Ques. Does The Apollo University provide internship at Apollo Hospitals for B.Sc. Imaging Technology students?

Ans. Yes, The Apollo University explicitly offers internship opportunities at Apollo Hospitals as part of the B.Sc. Imaging Technology programme. Students get hands-on exposure in radiology departments, imaging units, and diagnostic centres within the Apollo Hospitals network. This practical training is a significant advantage as Apollo Hospitals is one of India's largest and most reputed hospital chains, and the exposure helps students build clinical competence and professional networks before graduation.

Ques. What is the fee under government quota for B.Sc. Imaging Technology at The Apollo University, and how does one apply?

Ans. Students admitted through AP EAPCET counselling (government/convener quota) pay a significantly reduced annual fee of approximately Rs. 25,000 per year, compared to the management quota fee of Rs. 1,33,000 per year (tuition + recurring). To apply under government quota, students must appear in AP EAPCET 2026 (BiPC stream, scheduled May 19-20, 2026), qualify, and participate in the APSCHE counselling process starting tentatively from July 7, 2026. The AP EAPCET score and rank determine seat allotment across participating colleges including The Apollo University.

Ques. Is lateral entry available for B.Sc. Imaging Technology at The Apollo University, and what are the seats?

Ans. Yes, lateral entry into the 2nd year of B.Sc. Imaging Technology is available at The Apollo University. There are 10 seats available for lateral entry. Eligible candidates are those who have completed a 2-year Diploma in Imaging Technology after 10+2 with 50% marks in aggregate in the diploma and at least 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology; or a 3-year Diploma in Imaging Technology after 10th with 50% marks in aggregate. Lateral entry students join directly in the 2nd year, effectively completing the degree in 3 years instead of 4.

Ques. What are the career opportunities after B.Sc. Imaging Technology from The Apollo University?

Ans. Graduates of B.Sc. Imaging Technology can work as CT Scan Technicians, X-Ray Technicians, MRI Technicians, Radiology Technicians, and Optical Laboratory Technicians in hospitals, diagnostic imaging centres, polyclinics, and healthcare facilities. With the Apollo Hospitals Group's extensive network of 72+ hospitals and 300+ clinics, students have a strong advantage in securing employment. Graduates can also pursue M.Sc. in Medical Imaging Technology or related fields for advanced career opportunities in research, teaching, or specialised clinical roles.

Ques. Is NEET required for admission to B.Sc. Imaging Technology at The Apollo University?

Ans. NEET is not mandatory for admission to B.Sc. Imaging Technology at The Apollo University. Admission is primarily merit-based (based on Class 12 marks) for management quota seats, and through AP EAPCET counselling for government quota seats. However, students who have appeared in NEET may be eligible for NEET-based scholarships offered by the university (up to 30% of tuition fee for eligible scores). The minimum eligibility is 45% marks in Class 12 with Botany, Zoology, Physics, and Chemistry.
