    Admissions at Duke University in 2020 saw an acceptance rate of 8.2%, which is lower than the previous years. The university specially recorded an overwhelming number of Early Decision applications which resulted in this lower-than-usual acceptance rate. For the freshmen class of 2025, about 5,040 applications were received out of which only 800-855 students were admitted. Thus, admission to this renowned university of the US Education System. The students accepted at the university are extremely low which reflects that admissions here are extremely competitive which require candidates to showcase amazing academic skills.

    Out of the total 39,774 applications received by the university for their UG programs, only 3,244 applicants were accepted. Eventually, 1,593 students enrolled in 2020 while about 10% of the admitted students deferred to fall 2021. Due to the COVID crisis, Duke became test-optional for the 2020-2021 admissions cycle in which only 60% of Early Decision applicants submitted their SAT/ACT scores. Admitted students had the following middle 50% range:

    • SAT: 1500-1570
    • ACT: 34-35

    Duke University International Student Admissions

    How can I select between Early Decision and Regular Decision?

    The applicants can apply for early decision in case:

    • Duke is their choice
    • You are ready to apply by November 2
    • You have completed all the initial standardized testing by November 2

    What is the advantage of applying through the Early Decision program?

    There is an advantage in the admissions process to applying Early Decision. In 2018-2019, the university admitted 21% of students who applied Early Decision and 6% of students who applied Regular Decision.     There are no fixed minimum requirement GRE or GPA scores. GRE scores and GPAs will be considered alongside several other factors during the application review process.

    Am I allowed I apply to more than one program?

    Yes, you are allowed to apply to more than one program as well. For the same, the students need to create and complete a separate application for each program. The standardized test scores must only be reported once, even if you are applying to multiple programs.
