The University of Texas-El Paso (UTEP) has been ranked among the top 10 Universities of the nation. About 22,600 students are enrolled every year at UTEP. The University has a 100% admit rate.

About 70 bachelor courses, 76 master courses, and 20 doctorate courses are offered on-campus to students at UTEP. Admissions are offered on the basis of test scores of SAT/ACT for undergraduate admission and GRE/GMAT scores for graduate courses.

  • There are 10 schools under UTEP. Each school having sub-departments.

University of Texas-El Paso International Students Admissions

The admission requirements for International students are a bit different from domestic students admissions. The following information throws light on additional admission requirements for international students who wish to apply at UTEP:

  • High school or college transcripts should be sent directly from the school or college attended.
  • Credential evaluation of transcripts by certified credentialing service should be sent.
  • Test scores of SAT/ACT should be sent directly from the test centres to UTEP.
  • Confirmation letter for financial resources.

Applicants who don’t belong to an English speaking country, are required to submit scores of English proficiency test scores of either TOEFL/IELTS/PTE/PTE.

Visa process for international students

Students will have to apply for an F class student visa from the US embassy in their respective country. Thus, students are required to arrange all the documents and apply for an interview. The following documents are required for visa interview:

  • A valid passport and previously issued passports
  • 2 or 3 recent passport size photograph.
  • DS-160 confirmation page with barcode
  • HDFC visa application fee receipts
  • VFS appointment letter
  • SEVIS receipt and I-120 (This will be issued from the university, once your Confidential Statement of Financial Support Form is received by the office of admission

University of Texas-El Paso Undergraduate Admissions

There are about 70 courses offered at UTEP. The admission is based fully on the SAT/ACT test score. Including English proficiency test scores of TOEFL/PTE

Admission requirements:

  • Online application form
  • Official transcripts of the secondary school attended. The school should send the certificates to UTEP.
  • ACT and SAT scores should be sent to UTEP from the examination centres itself.
    • The min SAT score should be 1070 (reading + math sections) with a score of 480 on the reading section.
    • And a minimum ACT score of 23 on composition with a score of 19 on the English section.
  • Test Scores of TOEFL/PTE are required to be sent from the test centres itself. Scores of IELTS are not accepted.
    • TOEFL - Minimum score of 500 on UTEP’s written exam
    • PTE - Minimum score of 44
  • Show confirmation of financial resources.

Admission Requirements :

  • Submit biological information to find out additional requirements.
  • Register recommenders in the application form itself, so that the University can email and notify them within the stipulated time.

    • Copy of official 4 year Degree certificate (Should be sent from the university/ college attended)
    • Statement of purpose (An essay of 1 page with an of applicant’s professional experience, educational background, career goals, etc)

    • Letters of Recommendation
    • A course by course evaluation of the transcript from a foreign credential is required, If transcripts are not converted to English.

Note: The three-year bachelor's degree from India and Pakistan is not considered equivalent to the US Bachelors degree.

On fulfilling all the above criteria, the office of admission would send the applicant an admission offer. The response must be made before the deadline. After that, they may let the applicant know about further processing. After enrollment, the applicants may have to register for orientation, activate UTEP miners account, check for scholarship and financial aid, if opted for it.
