For East Carolina University admissions, only online applications are accepted.

  • For application review process, East Carolina University considers two types of GPA:
    • UG GPA: GPA from the degree-granting institution is accepted. For students with less than 60 semester hours, ECU considers hours from previous transcripts to calculate GPA.
    • Post-bachelor’s GPA: ECU calculates an overall GPA of the total number of courses taken during a bachelor’s program.
  • Applicants are encouraged to submit current transcripts if the program deadline falls before the on-going program graduation date.
  • Standardized test scores will only be accepted if sent through the testing agency.
  • Office of Undergraduate Admissions takes care of undergraduate admissions.
  • The graduate program applications are managed by the Graduate School, which sends the applications to respective departments and gives the final admission decision

ECU encourages international students to apply for undergraduate and graduate courses. The admission requirements are discussed in the following sections.

International Undergraduate Admissions

Application Portal: Online applications can be submitted through either through ECU Admissions Portal account or Common App or CFNC.

Application Fee: 75 USD

Academic Requirements: Applicants need to submit official academic transcripts received from all the secondary schools attended till now along with proof of the English language. Please note that submission of ACT or SAT scores is not essential to complete the application process.

Supporting Documents: Copy of passport information page and financial proof. Additionally, the students currently residing in the US need to provide copies of previous I-20 forms and Transfer notification form.

International Graduate Admissions

Application Portal: Only online applications are accepted for graduate programs, which can be submitted at the ECU’s Graduate School home page.

Application Fee: 75 USD

Academic Requirements: Academic transcripts both in the native language and English language, English proficiency test scores, and scores of standardized tests like GRE and GMAT.
