Purdue University International Student Admissions

The admission requirements for international students are different when compared to domestic students, and are discussed in the following session.

Academic requirements:

  • ACT/SAT (optional), Official transcripts, and English-translated academic records from the institution which they have attended.
  • The original academic documents must be mailed in a sealed envelope directly from the secondary school or the examination board.

Language requirements: The scores of TOEFL or IELTS test are required for admission and English translation of Transcript must be attached with the original.

All the international students at Purdue University are required to show proficiency in English for academic entry to apply at the university.

Visa Requirement for International Students

  • In case the international students are granted admission, they will be issued “Certificate of Eligibility” or I-20.
  • In some cases, due to specific sponsorship or funding requirement, a DS-2019 form is issued instead of the I-20.
  • Applicants will need to provide the following documents to receive the Form I-20:
    • Copy of passport
    • Proof of financial support
    • Bank statement
    • Sponsor letter, if applicable
    • You need to submit financial documents for proof of financial sponsorship that includes financial documents from a bank, employer, or other agency.

Purdue University USA Undergraduate Admissions

The enrolment process for the UG programs is different for international students as compared to the national students.

Application Fee: The international students should submit a non-refundable application fee of 25 USD.

Academic requirements - Official transcripts (translated in English), ACT/SAT, high school academic records and additionally, international applicants are required to submit an English proficiency test score.

The required GPA and grades for various programs are given below:

  • British O-Level English Language Exam with a Grade of A or B on the Ordinary Level of GCE/GCSE/IGCSE
  • Test Scores (SAT CR+M) - 850-900
  • Overall GPA 2.00 for the Hospitality and Tourism Management Program
  • Overall GPA 2.20 for all other programs

Supporting documents - Letter of Intent, personal statement/essay, evidence of sufficient funding that can support the students’ educational and living expenses for a 9-month period.

Purdue University USA Graduate Admissions

The Graduate School at PUN provides degree programs in a wider range of fields of study that are designed aiming at the academic growth and professional development of students.

How to Apply: The international students have to submit a plan of study (instructions on MyPUC > Graduate School tab); the plan of study must be submitted before the start of the semester of graduation.

Admission Requirements:

  • Scanned copies of official Transcripts must be uploaded as PDF files.
  • You need to bring an official document issued in a sealed envelope within your first semester at the University.
  • Electronic transcripts should be sent directly from the University to PUN’ Graduate Office at grad@pnw.edu.

Academic requirements: A majority of graduate courses require the applicants to submit GRE scores, however, scores of other standardized tests such as GMAT, LSAT, MCAT, etc may be required depending upon the course requirement.

Additionally, international applicants need to fulfill English language requirements.
