California State University, East Bay Admission Requirements for Indian Applicants 2027

Requirements centre on academic eligibility, English proficiency and financial documentation. Indian applicants convert Indian marksheets to a US 4.0 GPA scale for graduate review.

  • Bachelor’s degree: 4-year Indian bachelor’s with 55% or CGPA 5.5/10 minimum, equivalent to US GPA 2.5. 3-year degrees need WES course-by-course evaluation for consideration.
  • English proficiency: TOEFL iBT 80, IELTS Academic 6.5, PTE Academic 58, Duolingo 105, or Michigan English Test 55. General Training IELTS is not accepted.
  • Credential verification: WES evaluation required for 3-year Indian bachelor degrees before application review.
  • Additional tests: GRE required by select engineering and science departments; MBA does not require GMAT.

Undergraduate applicants follow a slightly lower bar per the CSU East Bay international admissions office.

  • Class 12 requirement: Indian Class 12 with 70% or better across CBSE, ISC or state boards recommended for freshman entry.
  • English proficiency: TOEFL iBT 61 or IELTS Academic 6.0 for undergraduate applicants.

CSU East Bay is a moderately selective public university. The overall admission rate stands at 90% (estimated) for international applicants based on undergraduate reporting trends. Graduate acceptance varies by department, with business analytics and computer science running more competitive shortlists.

California State University, East Bay vs Peer Universities

Indian applicants compare California State University, East Bay against other CSU campuses and Bay Area public universities. Peers below share a similar tuition band and OPT window.

UniversityUS News National 2026Avg PG Annual FeeOne-line differentiator

California State University, Long Beach#171$18,500 (₹17.65 lakh)Marketing and engineering brand recognition

CSU East Bay stands out for lower rent in the East Bay compared to San Francisco or San Jose. It also opens Spring intake in more graduate programmes than most CSU peers.

Key insight: The salary ceiling in the Bay Area cushions the higher rent premium for Indian graduates who intern locally during the OPT window.

California State University, East Bay works for Indian applicants seeking an affordable Bay Area masters with the STEM OPT window on eligible programmes. Total two-year investment of ₹34.50 lakh in tuition against a Bay Area MS market median of ₹90.63 lakh delivers a workable return. The application pathway suits candidates with strong academics and complete financial documentation.

It is not the right fit for applicants targeting elite US rankings or research doctorate paths outside education. Candidates focused on top-30 brand-name schools or PhD tracks should consider MBA universities in USA and research-heavy programmes with deeper funding profiles.

Overview

It was near my house when I moved to Livermore and then will transfer to CSU East Bay. But waiting for them to give me an answer. I used to go to Ohlone college but not anymore. The CSU that I'm planning to go to soon is more well known that the other CSU that I wanted to go to. The admission process was easy for me when I applied to the CSU.

Fees

It is expensive for international students and from what I know, the scholarships need to be merit-based. My parents pay a lot for my education and I need to always take a minimum of 12 units and one online class to be able to keep my status. I can handle the classes but sometimes it is hard that you can work on campus while going to school until you apply for an OPT.

Yes, you can pursue an MS in Business Analytics (BA) in the USA with a background in Dentistry. However, Many MS in BA programs look for applicants with some quantitative coursework, such as statistics, calculus, or linear algebra. If your dental degree was light on these subjects, you may want to take some prerequisite courses to strengthen your application.
