In the Fall intake of 2018, a total of 16,131 students applied from which 12,836 undergraduate and 2,792 graduate students enrolled into the institute with an acceptance rate of 72%. California State University offers several programs that include more than 49 undergraduate and 30 graduate degree programs and 60 graduate certificate programs in Art and Design, Marketing, Education, Nursing, Business and Healthcare. Application deadlines

International Student Admissions

California State University accepts international students who apply in time and have the prescribed TOEFL/IELTS scores and a minimum high school GPA of 3.0 or above on 4.0 scale and undergraduate GPA of 2.5 for graduate programs. Submission of SAT and ACT is needed. International undergraduate and graduate students must apply online and can submit unofficial scanned documents to the International Office of Admission of California State University, directly. Official documents must be submitted to the International Office of Admissions later after admission.

The application portals and deadline duration is the same for international undergraduate and graduate students due to the rolling admissions format, except for a few graduate programs. International students from countries whose native language is not English are advised to submit proof of English proficiency by taking either the IELTS or TOEFL test. The accepted scores are given in the table below-

* Students applying to Masters of Science degree in Economics need a 7 on IELTS and 92 on TOEFL.

Students can get a waiver of this requirement if they fulfill any of the following conditions:

1) Students with an official letter from their institutions stating that English was the language of instruction can get TOEFL and IELTS waiver.

2) Students belong to a country where the native language is English.

3) Student has transferred from a U.S. college with 60 or more units with GPA of 2.0 or completed a course in general education with grade ‘C’ or better in English composition, speech, critical thinking, and mathematics.

Visa Process for International Students

Students who wish to join California State University must have an F-1 student visa to study in the USA. The visa application must be made at a local consulate or embassy of the U.S. situated in the home country of a student, after admission has been confirmed by the university and the I-20 has been granted. After submitting the application, it takes 8 to 12 weeks for reviewing and processing the application before a decision is taken. Until then students can keep a track of their applications using the University’s portal. All newly admitted students must pay a pre-enrollment deposit of 110 USD. They must also accept the admission offer to reserve a seat in the University.
