There is a wide range of graduate courses both taught on campus and online, and UWL offers the only long-distance master’s course in medical dosimetry nationwide. The university has 5 schools and colleges:

Residential Facilities at the University of Wisconsin, La Crosse

The University has more than 10 residential halls where the students and the staff both reside. Approximately 93% of first-year students stay on campus. Angell, Coate, Hutchison, and Drake are cube style halls, Laux, Sanford, Wentz, and White are wing style halls, Reuter is an apartment-style and Eagle is a suite-style residential hall. Centennial Hall is the largest academic building on campus. A single residential hall has the capacity to provide housing to 500 students. All residences provide basic facilities like furniture, beds, fans and some of the comforts and luxuries like refrigerators, TVs are provided at a nominal additional cost. Two of the residential halls are air-conditioned also.

The university has a huge campus of 125 acres with very limited vehicular traffic. The campus is famous for its landscaping and locale. Located in the heart of UWL, Hoeschler Tower is the focal point of the campus and a popular destination and meeting place for students. It is also the site for many university and student events, such as concerts, memorial services, and the traditional hanging of the lantern.

The Campus houses a high-quality recreational Center that allows students and staff to work out, take classes like Zumba, cycling, yoga, etc. which help them in remaining fit too. UWL provides on-campus housing, library, health center, science center, and recreational facilities on campus too.

The Campus also has facilities where students can rent the books for their semesters that help in reducing costs significantly.

Application Process

Admission to the University of Wisconsin, La Crosse is somewhat competitive with a 73% acceptance rate. 

How to Apply: International students can apply to the university online via the online portal

Application Fee: Students have to pay the non-refundable online application fee of 50 USD for undergraduate programs and 56 USD for graduate programs.

Application Requirements: 

  • Official transcripts of academic qualifications completed so far need to be sent to the university.
  • Proof of funding needs to be provided through financial affidavit given on the website.
  • Proof of English Proficiency (IELTS/TOEFL/PTE)

Scholarships and Financial Aid

The University has Foundation scholarships for which applications should be made between October 1 and February 1. International students who are looking for scholarships to afford their studies in the USA should search for scholarships at the Resource Center and through the Admission office also. 

Admission scholarships can be listed as follows:

Admission Scholarships 

The University awards 400 plus merit-based scholarships where the applicants have to go through a competitive process. The first-year students who receive admission through a priority basis before February 01 are also eligible for this scholarship without making a separate application.

Eagle Apprentice

This program gives financial assistance to around fifty-first and second-year students. These students are selected by the admission office without any separate application.

Besides this, there are graduate scholarships also available and each has different criteria to fulfill in order to be eligible for the same. Applicants are requested to go through the eligibility check through the university website. The university encourages students to go for the outside and prestigious scholarship programs like Fulbright, Boren Scholarships, Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program too.

Work while you study

International students are allowed to work on campus if they fulfill the following conditions:

  1. To work in the USA the students must maintain valid F-1 status.
  2. All international students are allowed to work up to 20 hours per week while classes are going on.
  3. The students can work full-time on campus during holidays and vacation periods if you intend to register for the next academic quarter.

The usual rate of pay for international students is 7 USD to 15 USD per hour depending on the work.
