Dakota State University(DSU) is a public university, located in Madison, South Dakota. The university received 1,056 applications for fall 2018. The acceptance rate for this semester was 83%. Dakota State University International Admissions

Currently, around 80 international students representing 17 countries are enrolled at DSU. the admissions process for international and domestic applicants is similar. However, there are additional requirements and documents that international applicants need to fulfill for admissions at DSU.

Admission Requirements for International Students

  • English Proficiency Test score to be sent directly.
    • TOEFL code: 6247
  • Official transcripts should be mailed.
    • English translations of transcripts, if required.
  • International students are required to have at least one of the following academic requirements: GPA:2.60/4.00 or in the top 60% of his/her class or a score of 18+ in ACT or a score of 870 in the SATs.
  • Bank Statement and Certificate of Financial Responsibility should be submitted by all international applicants.
  • Submission of at least one Letter of Recommendation is mandatory.

Visa Requirements for International Students

International students have to submit proof of 2 MMR immunizations and a copy of their passport along with a financial sheet and proof of funding. After the student is selected for admission and all financial documents verified the university will email the Certificate of Eligibility for a Student Visa (Form I-20 A/B). Once received, all the details should be checked carefully.

  • Completed non-immigration visa application form (DS-156) with passport size photo.
  • A valid passport.
  • Receipt of visa application fee.
  • Evidence of SEVIS fee payment (I-901 receipt).
  • Additional documents: Academic Transcript(s), scores of any standardized tests taken, Letter of Recommendation

After payment of SEVIS-fee, the applicant must schedule the visa interview with the US embassy.
