ULM International Admissions

The student population currently has around 300 international students studying at the university. The application procedure for international applicants varies from domestic. Additional documents and English proficiency scores are required for international admissions.

Admission Requirements for International Students

  • All the academic records/transcripts from the previously attended institution(s).
    • Official transcripts that are not in English, must be accompanied along with the certified English translation.
  • Must have a minimum GPA between 2.35 and 2.5 in the last two years of their previous program.
  • SAT score
    • Minimum requirements- Writing & language: 25, Maths: 500.
    • SAT composite: 1060, if GPA is 2.35-2.50.
  • Proof of English proficiency for non-native English speakers.
  • Proof of immunization
  • Statement of financial backing
  • Graduate Assistant Application, for graduate programs.

International applicants can submit the TOEFL and/or IELTS scores to demonstrate English proficiency. The minimum required scores for UG & PG admissions are given below. However, applicants must note that several departments may different score requirements.

Visa Process for International Students

  • International applicants will be issued Form I-20 from the university
  • Applicants will need to provide the following documents to receive the Form I-20:
    1. Copy of passport
    2. Proof of financial support
    3. Bank statement
    4. Sponsor letter, if applicable
  • Complete the I-20 and pay the SEVIS I-901 fee.
  • Applicants then need to apply for the F-1 or J-1 visa. Submit the form and pay the application fee.
  • Schedule and attend the visa interview
