Weber State University Admission Requirements for Indian Applicants 2027

Weber State University asks Indian applicants for a completed degree at the relevant level, one accepted English test score and evaluated academic transcripts before it releases an I-20 form.

Weber State University PG Requirements for Indian Applicants

  • Bachelor’s degree: 3-year or 4-year bachelor’s from a UGC-recognised university with 60% or CGPA 6.0/10 (recommended)
  • English test: TOEFL iBT 79 with minimum 17 per section, or IELTS 6.5 with minimum 6.0 per band, or PTE Academic 46, or Duolingo English Test 105; TOEFL scores dated on or after 21 January 2026 report on the new 1-6 band scale
  • Credential verification: Course-by-course evaluation from a NACES or AICE agency such as WES, ECE or IEE
  • Programme-specific: MBA requires a college algebra prerequisite; MS Nursing needs an active RN licence and a completed BSN

Weber State University UG Requirements for Indian Applicants

  • Class 12: Minimum 60% aggregate from CBSE, ICSE or a recognised state board (recommended)
  • English test: TOEFL iBT 61 (or new-scale score of 4) or IELTS 6.0 with minimum 5.0 per band, or PTE Academic 46, or Duolingo 105; SAT Critical Reading 420 or ACT English 17 accepted in lieu
  • Financial proof: Bank statement or bank letter confirming funds equal to or above the annual cost of attendance

Note: Weber State University waives the English test for Indian applicants who completed all secondary or undergraduate education in a school where English was the sole medium of instruction. The request needs a signed letter from the head of the institution and must go to the ISSC before the credential file is finalised.

Weber State University Acceptance Rate 2027

Weber State University reports an official acceptance rate of 100%, as per its open-admission policy for applicants who clear the minimum academic and English proficiency thresholds. The figure has held steady for the last five years and comes directly from the WSU admissions office through federal IPEDS reporting.

Open admission does not mean automatic entry. Every applicant clears the academic minimum (Class 12 with 60% for UG, bachelor’s with 60% for PG), the English test score and F-1 financial documentation. Selective programmes such as MS Nursing, MS Athletic Training and the DNP run separate departmental screenings after WSU admits the student, with strict cohort caps.

Reality check: Open admission at Weber State University is a real advantage for Indian applicants with strong intent but average academic history. Direct effort towards English test scores, statement of purpose and bank documents rather than chasing a GPA cutoff that does not apply at WSU.

Insider note: Off-campus rent near WSU runs $400 to $600 for a shared apartment, well below Salt Lake City rates. Weber State guarantees on-campus housing to first-year international students, and Indian students report saving $150 to $200 per month by cooking Indian meals at home rather than opting for the full residential meal plan.

Weber State University Campus, Facilities and Student Life

Weber State University spans two locations: the 600-acre Ogden main campus set against the Wasatch Mountains and the Davis campus in Layton, with 63 buildings including academic blocks, residence halls and the Marriott Health and Sciences Building.

  • Location: Ogden is 35 miles north of Salt Lake City; the Frontrunner commuter rail links WSU to downtown Salt Lake in 55 minutes
  • Housing: On-campus housing for over 1,000 students, guaranteed to first-year international students at $500 to $700 per month
  • Notable facility: The Stewart Bell Tower carillon, Val A. Browning Center for the Performing Arts and the 11,592-seat Dee Events Center
  • Indian community: WSU hosts over 830 international students from 50+ countries, with an active Indian Student Association organising Diwali, Holi and Republic Day celebrations

What Indian students say: Two paraphrased points recur across student conversations: the small class sizes give real access to faculty, especially in Goddard School accountancy tracks; and the campus shuttle plus UTA pass make it easy to reach Salt Lake City and Ogden’s shopping and grocery districts without owning a car.

Weber State University Scholarships 2027

Weber State University runs four named merit scholarships open to new international undergraduate students, each covering a share of out-of-state tuition and renewable across the 4-year degree as per the WSU Financial Aid Office. Graduate scholarships are limited and awarded programme-by-programme through departmental applications.

[Source: Weber State University Financial Aid Office 2026]

Planning note: Weber State awards these merit scholarships automatically at the time of admission for applicants who meet the grade profile, with no separate scholarship application. Indian applicants should still email the ISSC to confirm the specific award tier before booking flights, as the value materially changes the funds-on-hand certificate needed for the F-1 visa interview.

Weber State University Rankings 2027

Weber State University’s strongest ranking is #50 in the U.S. News Regional Universities West 2026 tier, an improvement from #54 in the prior edition, as per US News Best Colleges 2026. The university is not ranked in QS World or THE World editions because it is a masters-focused regional institution rather than a research-doctoral one.

US News also ranks WSU’s Goddard School of Business among the Best Regional Business Programs, and the Dumke College of Health Professions holds regional recognition for Radiologic Sciences and Athletic Training. The absence from QS and THE world tables is standard for U.S. regional universities and does not affect F-1 visa eligibility or U.S. employer recognition.

Key insight: Indian applicants sometimes assume no QS rank means no employer traction. In the U.S. market, Weber State University’s regional accreditation from NWCCU and the AACSB accreditation of the Goddard School are the credentials that matter for OPT hiring and H-1B sponsorship, not the QS World table.

Weber State University Placements and Career Outcomes 2027

Weber State University reports strong post-graduation employment metrics for a regional university, with career outcomes tracked through the WSU Career Services annual survey and the U.S. Department of Education College Scorecard.

  • Employment within 6 months: 69% of graduates hold full-time employment within six months of degree completion
  • Average starting salary (bachelor’s): $49,350 (₹47.13 Lakh) rising to $56,287 (₹53.75 Lakh) after early-career gains, 14% above the national average for bachelor’s holders as per U.S. Department of Education data
  • Sector split: Healthcare, financial services, aerospace and IT dominate hiring; regional employers include Northrop Grumman, Autoliv, Intermountain Health, America First Credit Union and IHC Health Services
  • OPT and STEM extension: All graduates qualify for 12 months of Optional Practical Training; MS Computer Engineering, MS Computer Science, MS Athletic Training and BS Electrical Engineering graduates qualify for an added 24-month STEM OPT extension
  • Alumni: Notable WSU alumni include John Willard Marriott (founder of Marriott Corporation) and Bernard L. Fisher (Medal of Honor recipient); Indian alumni cluster in Utah-based accounting and IT roles

Insider note: Weber State University’s placement pipeline is regional-first, so Indian graduates targeting Salt Lake City, Ogden and the wider Wasatch Front see the fastest OPT conversions. The John B. Goddard School career centre runs targeted employer visits every October and February that pull in Big 4 accounting recruiters.

Weber State University vs Peer Universities

The peer set below groups Weber State with two Utah public universities and two out-of-state regional publics that Indian applicants commonly weigh against WSU on cost, acceptance rate and programme mix.

[Source: US News Best Colleges 2026 and respective bursar offices]

Weber State University wins on three concrete parameters: three intakes per year (Fall, Spring, Summer) against the twice-a-year cycle at most peers; open admission with no GPA cutoff at intake; and AACSB accreditation for the Goddard School of Business, which places it inside the top 5% of business schools worldwide by that specific benchmark.

Key insight: If tuition alone drives the choice, Boise State University or Idaho State University undercut WSU by $8,000 to $13,000 per year. If OPT and business-school reputation drive the choice, Weber State’s AACSB tag and Utah’s tech-corridor employer base give it a clear edge for accounting and MBA applicants.

Weber State University fits Indian applicants who want an affordable U.S. degree with a total 4-year investment of ₹67.10 Lakh and starting salaries of ₹47.13 Lakh, backed by an AACSB business school and an F-1 pathway with 24-month STEM OPT for eligible masters. The open-admission policy and three intakes per year lower the risk of a rejected application or a lost year for candidates who cleared their bachelor’s with 60% and hold a strong English test score.

The university will not suit applicants who need a QS Top 200 brand for family or scholarship-loan purposes, or those chasing a large-metro social scene on par with New York or Los Angeles. Applicants in that bracket should compare Arizona State University or the University of Utah, both of which sit in QS World tables and offer bigger city footprints.

Weber State University FAQs

Ques. Which programs at Weber State University are most popular with Indian students?

Ans. Indian students at Weber State University cluster most heavily into the MBA, Master of Accounting, Master of Taxation, MS Computer Engineering and MS Computer Science tracks. At undergraduate level, BS Computer Science, BS Business Administration and BS Electrical Engineering carry the strongest Indian intake. Ques. Does Weber State University require GRE or GMAT scores for MS or MBA admission?

Ans. Weber State University does not require the GRE for MS admission across most graduate programmes. The MBA at the Goddard School of Business waives the GMAT for applicants with a 3.0 or higher undergraduate GPA or five years of substantial work experience. Applicants with lower GPAs may need a GMAT score of 500 or above to strengthen the file, verified programme-by-programme at the WSU catalog page.

Ques. How many hours can Indian students work part-time at WSU?

Ans. F-1 students at Weber State University can work up to 20 hours per week on-campus during the academic session and up to 40 hours per week during summer or official breaks. Common on-campus roles include library assistants, dining services, tutoring and research assistantships.

Ques. How long does the STEM OPT extension last for WSU graduates?

Ans. WSU graduates from STEM-designated programmes qualify for a 24-month STEM OPT extension on top of the standard 12-month OPT, giving a total of 36 months of post-completion work authorisation in the United States. Eligible WSU degrees include MS Computer Engineering, MS Computer Science, MS Athletic Training and BS Electrical Engineering, provided the employer is registered with E-Verify.

The $60 fee covers processing of academic transcripts, English test scores, financial documents and the I-20 issuance workflow through the ISSC once the admission decision is released.

Ques. Does Weber State University waive the English test for Indian applicants?

Ans. Weber State University waives TOEFL, IELTS, PTE and Duolingo for Indian applicants whose entire secondary or undergraduate education was delivered in English as the sole medium of instruction. The waiver needs a signed letter from the head of the institution on official letterhead, confirming the medium of instruction and the specific years of study. Send the letter directly to intladmissions@weber.edu with the application.

Ans. Weber State University accepts course-by-course credential evaluations only from agencies approved by NACES or AICE. The commonly used providers for Indian degrees are World Education Services (WES), Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE), International Education Evaluations (IEE) and SpanTran. Overview

It's a good college with good professors! It has lots of opportunities after college. All the counselors are very helpful, not to mention it?s 100% acceptance rate and had a fine graduation rate in the field I wanted. Also it?s very close to where I live.

Fees

For the whole semester with only 9 credits, and without a loan or anything, it was a little above two thousand dollars, paid about four hundred every two weeks. I had to get 3 books that were actually only $15-30.
