It was my first pick, and when I interviewed for the program I got automatically accepted along with a great talent and academic scholarship. I knew they really wanted me to study there and it wasn?t too close or far away from home. It was also the first school I applied for, so when I got in so quickly there was no question as to where else I would go.
The program is really small and hands-on, and you also get a lot of experience with lots of different types of shows, which broadens your resume and gives you a great experience. It's not too hard to get into the program academically but they are very select about who gets into to program talent-wise. There are only about 15 people in my class with my major.
The music ensemble, the orchestra is conducted by Jeffery Grogan and the music education is headed my Micheal Raiber. Sophia Ro is the violin professor and I knew that with them, my education would be well rounded and post-graduation, I would be prepared.
The course curriculum is rigorous at times, but I think the amount of information is distributed effectively to where the student can take in all the information they need to. Intro to Music Education is taught by Michael Raiber, and you get to dive deep into the underlying skills you will need as a music educator.
