Idaho State University Campus

Located in the hilly terrain of Pocatello in the northern Rocky Mountains, the campus of Idaho State University offers dynamic student experience with a variety of student activities including athletics, campus radio, outdoor adventure, etc. The university also has three regional campuses in Meridian, Idaho Falls, and Twin Falls.

Residence/ Housing Facilities at Idaho State University

On-campus residence facilities at Idaho State University consists of traditional residence halls and modern apartments. Graduate students are given priority for all Apartment housing at the university while the traditional freshmen and sophomores are best suited in the residence halls of the university. 

  • Students have four residence hall options to choose from Rendezvous Hall (Upperclassmen and Honors Students), Turner Hall (Freshmen), South Complex (Freshmen), and Schubert Heights (Upperclassmen and non-traditional students).
  • The On-Campus Apartments are for upperclassmen and non-traditional students who are 19 years of age and have completed their first year of college. Students can choose from five apartment options.
  • All Junior class level students occupying residence halls are required to subscribe to the resident meal plan.
  • Business majors at Idaho State have a dedicated residence facility in the model of a Residential College in Dyer Hall at South Campus.
  • Residence hall charges are inclusive of laundry facilities, computer lab access, cable television, and parking. A USD 150 deposit is required with the residence hall application.
  • Residence Halls are charged per semester for Private Room/Studio/Suite-Style/ Double Occupancy in the range of USD 2,345 to USD 1,475. On-campus Apartments are charged monthly rates in the range of USD 540 to USD 675.

Scholarship and Financial Aids

Idaho State University offers a number of financial aid options to students. These include federal and state grants, loans, tuition waivers, student employment, etc. The primary source of scholarship for international students at Idaho State University is Non-Resident Tuition Waivers (NRTWs).

  • Incoming International students are considered for NRTW worth approximately 15,520 USD per year, based on academic merit and availability.
  • Applicants need to have a minimum GPA of 3.5 to be considered for the award.
  • Existing undergraduate students at the University, with a CGPA of 3.0, are also eligible to apply for NRTW.
  • Please note that the NRTWs are renewable, provided the renewal criteria are diligently met with.
  • Graduate International students can also apply for NRTWs through the Graduate School, though the graduate awards are not renewable and have to be applied for by eligible candidates afresh annually.
  • The application, for both undergraduate and graduate NRTWs, must be received (or postmarked) by the university, along with supporting documents, by May 1 for the Fall Intake and November 1 for the Spring Intake.
  • Standardized test scores like GRE/GMAT etc. for graduate students are often considered by departments/colleges to award graduate assistantships, fellowships, or scholarships other than NRTWs.

International students can also apply for various outside international scholarships to study in the USA. These scholarships are often financial aid awarded by various private organizations or the respective home countries government, etc. Another way to finance their education at Idaho State University are education loans. Students can apply for various private education loans. 

Work While You Study

Financial Aid in the form of College Work Study is available to Idaho State students through either FAFSA or through the university itself, based on demonstrated financial need. Also, students need to be enrolled at the university for at least 6 credits. Interested candidates are required to complete the FAFSA application form to be considered for either program.

Employment opportunities are available mid-August onwards and can be accessed via the ISU Career Center. Students can work between 10 to 20 hours per week and are paid on an hourly basis. The minimum payout is at the rate of 7.25 USD per hour.
