    HOWARD UNIVERSITY

My brother encouraged me to apply to an HBCU and once I applied and got in I saw that they gave me a generous scholarship so I accepted. I chose a BS in Biology because I knew I wanted to study medicine.

    Course Curriculum -

I think Howard could benefit from having a wider variety of courses offered especially in the sciences. More high-level specific courses. There are only a few different genres offered. For instance, the biology department focuses mostly on non-human courses. Plants and microbiology departments are strong. But not much aimed towards pre-med students.

THE MECCA: THE BEST OF HOWARD UNIVERSITY

I was offered a full scholarship, a place in the College of Arts and Sciences Honors Program and an invitation to an exclusive research-based biology lab (SEA-PHAGES). My best friend from high school was also going so that was a plus.

    Course Curriculum -

I really enjoyed my curriculum, particularly the honors courses. The core curriculum courses I took (like English) were honors. I wish there was a greater variety of Biology courses offered each semester. I loved the ecology courses and microbiology courses.
