Henderson State University (HSU) was founded in 1890 in Arkansas, U.S.A. It was a private institution during its establishment and was turned into a public liberal arts university. Henderson State University offers the only aviation program in Arkansas. Moreover, it is the only university in the state offering a pre-professional course. The athletic team of the university is known as Reddies.

Programs, Faculties, and Divisions of Henderson State University

Henderson State University offers programs in more than 65 undergraduate and graduate degrees. It also offers an undergraduate aviation course. All the degree programs are offered through Matt Locke Ellis College of Arts and Sciences, the School of Business, Teachers College, Henderson, and the Graduate School. Centre for International Programs assists foreign students with resources and guidance. Among all the freshmen majors, the most popular courses are biology, health science, business administration, aviation, and elementary education.

Housing Facilities/Residence at Henderson State University

All students, under the age of 21, applying to full-time courses have to live on-campus. If they wish to stay off-campus, HSU requires the students to apply for special permission. On-campus residents can have access to TV, internet, laundry services, and various other campus facilities.

  • The eight residential buildings on the campus include traditional, suite and apartment-style accommodations.
  • There are separate residential facilities for male and female students. The Newbury Hall is for male students and the Smith Hall is for female students.
  • Rooms are double or single type, 1/2/4 bedroom apartments, and double or single suites.
  • International House is co-ed housing for both international and American students. Students can experience different cultures while living together. It has suites and apartment-style housing, with kitchens and bathrooms.
  • Students need to buy meal plans when living on-campus. Meal plans for students are of three main types – Residents, Apartments, and Commuters (for off-campus residents).
  • Meal plans range from 3 meals per week to 19 meals per week, depending on the amount.
  • Resident meal plans offer meal cards to purchase food.
  • Students can apply for housing after admission by using their MyHenderson Account to select rooms, roommates and meal plans.

Henderson State University has its campus in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. The campus houses the HUIE Library, residence halls, dining halls, academic buildings, recreation centers. The university offers campus tours to future students. The university have taken several measures to keep the campus safe.
