Concord University was founded in the year 1872 in Athens, West Virginia. With the total enrolment of 2,194, Concord has registered 2,102 undergraduates and 349 graduate students. The university offers twelve undergraduate and four graduate degree programs and is one of the renowned names in the US Education System

The smaller classes with the student-faculty ratio of 15:1 make it easier for the students to interact. Programs, Campus and Residence

Courses

Concord University offers a plethora of courses for international students which includes more than fourteen undergraduate and four graduate degree programs. The available courses are all providers across its various colleges namely, College of Professional Studies, College of Natural Sciences, Mathematics, and Health, and College of Fine Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences.

  • All the programs are offered in the English language here.

Some of the popular courses available at the institute which are preferably favored by the applicants include International Business, Computer Science, Psychology, Economics and Human Resources Management, among others. 

Campus

Concord University

The university has two campuses with one in Athens and the other in Beckley. It offers its students a residential campus with a variety of housing options. The campuses are equipped with all sorts of facilities like the cafeteria, food court, laboratory, technology center, modern library, and several other facilities. The campus has a wireless internet connection as well.

With over 200 on-campus organizations consisting of religious and political organizations, Art and other societies, the institute ensures that its students have their fun time sorted with a penty of options to choose from. Layng extra emphasis on sports, the university campus provides a favourable environment for all its athletes and a number of sports activities to choose from which includes baseball, football, tennis, track and field, among others.

Concord campus offers several student services including nonremedial tutoring, daycare, placement services, etc. It also provides services for physically disabled students like special transport, special housing, adaptive equipment, tape recorders, braille, and hearing-impaired services. 

Housing Facilities

There are two university campuses and both provide housing facilities for its students. Athens Campus offers two housing towers: North Tower (for women) and South Tower (for men) plus 2 traditional residence halls and few apartments for students to reside in.

Specially appointed resident assistants conduct daily activities to encourage student interactions on campus. All the available options come with basic facilities and are fully-furnished.

Note that the Room Reservation form is available online and students must fill it around March. The housing application must be submitted to the Office of Housing and Residence Life. The applications are reviewed by the Director of Residence Life or the designated committee.

Admission requirements: 

Candidates are required to fulfill the following admission requirements:

  • Academic transcripts – All academic records from the secondary, pre-university program, and all previous universities attended. All the records must be in English or are with English translations
  • English Proficiency test scores like TOEFL, IELTS, PTE, Duolingo English Test, et al.
  • Test Scores like SAT or ACT.
  • Additional Requirements – Explanation of education gap of more than 13 months (if any), affidavit of financial support, current bank statement, an official copy of immunization record.

Cost of Attendance

Financial Aid and Scholarship

Concord University offers several grants, scholarships, loans, and part-time employment to give financial support to the students and help them complete their studies. To avail, any scholarship students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) after October 01. 

Some of the scholarships for international students to study in the USA offered by the institute are as mentioned below:

  • West Virginia Promise Scholarship: This need-based scholarship is granted to full-time undergraduate students. This scholarship is renewable and is given based on GPA scores.
  • Underwood-Smith Teacher Scholarship Program: This is also a need-based scholarship and renewable. Students can apply for it every year. The application is available online.
  • West Virginia Engineering, Science and Technology Scholarship Program: This is a state-funded scholarship. The application for this scholarship must be submitted by March 1st.

Note that the majority of the scholarships are of a 1-year duration and are given to full-time students. However, there are few scholarships for part-time programs as well.
