International admissions for undergraduate and postgraduate programs at Lamar University are open for the Fall, Spring and Summer sessions. The university mandates international students to meet additional academic and non-academic requirements to secure admission to the offered programs in spite of the similar admission process for both domestic and international students.

LU offers nearly 10 million USD as a financial-aid to deserving students in the form of more than 2000 scholarships for international students to study in the US. Most scholarships are merit-based while other factors such as academic major, leadership ability and specialized skills are also considered for the awards.
Full-time enrolled international graduates with a minimum CGPA:3.0 are selected by their respective departments for the academic competitive scholarships. They receive a scholarship ranging from 2000 USD to 3000 USD, disbursed in increments of 500 USD, not exceeding 1,000 USD/ year.
International students granted a minimum of 1000 USD from the Graduate Studies Competitive Scholarship qualify for this waiver which is awarded competitively.
Selected women from foreign countries enrolled for full-time admission are awarded scholarships to pursue graduate studies in the US and Canada.
All international undergraduate applicants can apply for the university-wide scholarship based on the academic merit by submitting a scholarship form before February 1 of the following academic year
Deserving international students can also apply to their respective departments for merit-based scholarships in addition to the Teaching and Research assistantships
The scholarship offers an exemption of a year’s tuition fees for students from other nations of the Western Hemisphere. Students should apply for the program before March for awards of the Fall Semester.
Lamar University provides on-campus employment to F1 students with a valid I-20. They are permitted to work for 20 hours/week during school sessions and full-time during vacations. International students are also offered on-campus employment in their respective academic department job openings.
