The Bemidji State University has international student enrollment from more than 30 countries among its total student population of around 5000 candidates. It is a state-supported, coeducational institution of the US Education System offering bachelor and master degree programs to students since 1919.

Applications from international students to an array of courses offered by Bemidji State University are accepted on a rolling basis. However, the School of Graduate Studies suggests students to complete applications by April 1.
It is suggested that students submit applications along with the necessary credentials at the earliest possible so that the evaluation committee gets sufficient time for its evaluation and applicants get time for the visa process and travel arrangements.
Students who require registration under SEVIS are categorized as international students. Every international student will require either an F-1 or J-1 visa for studying in the U.S. International students applying for admission online must select “International Visa Holder or Seeker” under the ‘Citizenship’ option. Including the Social Security Number is optional.

Admission Requirements: A list of supporting documents required to be submitted along with the application are given below. Students must scan and submit these documents to the admission office via email.
International students must submit one of the English proficiency test scores as a part of the admission process. Official scores must be sent to the International Program Center of the University. Students who fail to meet the minimum requirements as mentioned in the table below must take a Pathway Program before being admitted to the University.

The University issues an I-20 or DS-2019 which enables students to apply for an F-1 or J-1 visa to study in the USA . In order to do so, the University requires financial documents that include Financial Affidavit, 2019-20 cost information and 2020-21 expense sheets and copy of the applicant’s ID page of passport.
However, these documents are not required at the time of application submission. These are required when full admission of the applicant is confirmed. Any documents required in addition to the application can be mailed to email@example.com .
International undergraduate students willing to apply to Bemidji State University must have completed secondary/ high school with an average ‘C’ grade or above. Documents submitted in the addition to the ones required will not be considered for the evaluation. Also, the University can ask for original copies of any documents which it finds suitable.

*Work experience is not a mandatory requirement for applying to the programs. However, applicants who have relevant experience must share it through the letter of intent.

Students whose admission is confirmed will be sent a welcome packet which will include I-20 or DS-2019 and the letter confirming admission. On receiving admission confirmation, students must follow some procedures before their arrival. This includes signing I-20/ DS-2019, payment of SEVIS fee, applying for student visa and arranging their arrival at Bemidji, Minnesota.
All international applicants need to arrive at the university at least 1 week prior to the commencement of the term to attend the mandatory new international student orientation. The orientation program is conducted by the International Program Center in every fall and spring term.
