Thapar Patiala charges ₹3,25,000 per semester for its 2026-27 CSE, Computer Engineering, AI and Data Science, Computer Science and Business Systems, and Electronics and Computer Engineering group. Other engineering groups are ₹2,94,800 or ₹2,48,600 per semester. Tuition, development fees and other semester charges are included.

Key points: Students also pay a one-time ₹30,000 admission fee. Hostel and mess are extra. The later-year fees below apply to the 2026-27 entry batch; they do not confirm fees for students joining in 2027.

Thapar BE/BTech Fees by Branch Group

BE/BTech fees are paid in equal semester instalments. The eight-semester totals below cover the 2026-27 entry batch before admission fees and accommodation.

Patiala BE/BTech programme fees for the 2026–27 entry batch
Branch group Per semester Eight-semester total
CSE Patiala, Computer Engineering, AI and Data Science, Computer Science and Business Systems, Electronics and Computer Engineering ₹3,25,000 ₹26,00,000
Biotechnology, ECE, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Electronics VLSI, Robotics and AI ₹2,94,800 ₹23,58,400
Other BE/BTech branches ₹2,48,600 ₹19,88,800

Lateral-entry students join in second year, so an eight-semester total does not describe their usual remaining study period. Thapar groups them with the corresponding branch rate but bills them for their own entry point.

MCA, MSc, MTech and Other Course Fees

Selected Patiala programme fees for 2026–27 entrants
Programme Per semester Programme total
MCA ₹1,15,800 ₹4,63,200 over four semesters
MSc ₹20,000 ₹80,000 over four semesters
ME/MTech in CSE, ECE, Mechanical or Electrical and Instrumentation departments ₹99,700 ₹3,98,800 over four semesters
Other ME/MTech programmes ₹89,500 ₹3,58,000 over four semesters
MA, two-year option ₹50,600 ₹2,02,400 over four semesters

The ₹30,000 non-PhD admission fee is extra. MBA students at Dera Bassi follow a separate fee structure.

What Is Included in the Semester Fee?

The ₹3,25,000 semester payment includes ₹2,57,000 tuition, ₹57,000 development fees and ₹11,000 other charges. The last component covers ₹7,500 for student activity and welfare, ₹3,000 for examinations and ₹500 for medical and insurance.

The one-time ₹30,000 admission fee is separate. Hostel and mess are separate too. The institute may also charge for backlog or improvement subjects when a student takes them. The International Engineering Programme has another payment structure, including an overseas university fee, so its total cannot be inferred from the standard Patiala table.

Thapar Patiala Hostel and Mess Charges

Room fees range from ₹34,600 to ₹78,500 per semester, with ₹26,900 for mess. Sharing and room type affect the amount.

The hostel amounts need confirmation at allotment because the fee schedule and its hostel footnote refer to different academic years.

Thapar Scholarships and Tuition Waivers

The 2026–27 scholarship policy offered the first 50 eligible JEE Main rank holders with more than 95% in the stated Class 12 aggregate a waiver of tuition and development fees. The next 60 eligible students with more than 90% could receive a tuition waiver. A separate award covered half the tuition for the top 10% of admitted students in each branch who met the policy’s marks and ranking conditions. These are limited awards, not automatic discounts for everyone above a percentage.

Eligible Biomedical, Chemical, Civil, Electrical, Mechanical and related-branch applicants in 2026 could receive a 30% tuition waiver at 80% or above in PCM, or 20% at 75% to below 80%. Renewal required at least 8.5 AGPA after each year. Development fees, other charges and hostel remained payable. The 2027 policy is awaited.
