BITS Pilani plans to open first-degree applications for 2027-28 around December 2026, tentatively. B.E., M.Sc. and B.Pharm. admission mainly uses BITSAT. Test dates, the application deadline and counselling dates for 2027 are awaited.

M.E. and M.Pharm. follow the higher-degree admission process. MBA Business Analytics uses BAAT and an interview. Each programme has its own application and eligibility requirements.

BITS Pilani Admission 2027 Dates

BITS has given only a tentative December 2026 opening for the 2027-28 first-degree cycle. The other periods in the table come from its revised 2026 BITSAT schedule.

First-degree dates: current position and the 2026 basis
Event 2027 position What happened in 2026
BITSAT applications open December 2026, tentative notice from BITS 15 December 2025
Session 1 application deadline Around March 2027, tentative 19 March 2026 after updates
Session 1 exam Around April 2027, tentative 15 to 16 April 2026
Session 2 application window Around April to May 2027, tentative 20 April to 5 May 2026
Session 2 exam Around May 2027, tentative 25 to 27 May 2026
Class 12 marks and programme preferences Around late April to early June 2027, tentative 27 April to 3 June 2026
First seat-allotment iteration Around June 2027, tentative 20 June 2026
Fee payment and reporting After each allotment; 2027 dates pending First iteration fee deadline 26 June 2026; later reporting ran into August

These BITSAT periods do not cover higher degrees or MBA. In 2026, M.E. and M.Pharm. applications ran from 18 February to 20 April and their test was on 25 and 26 May. That supports a broad February to May planning period for 2027 higher-degree applicants, subject to a new notice.

First-Degree Courses and Eligibility

The Pilani campus offered B.E. branches including Computer Science, Mathematics and Computing, Electrical and Electronics, Mechanical, Civil and Chemical Engineering in 2026-27. It also offered B.Pharm. and M.Sc. subjects such as Economics, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biological Sciences. The 2027 preference form will show the available choices.

Key 2026 BITSAT academic rules to check again for 2027
Programme group Class 12 requirement in the latest cycle
Most B.E. and M.Sc. programmes Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics; at least 75% aggregate in PCM and 60% in each subject
B.Pharm. and B.E. Environmental and Sustainability Engineering Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Mathematics; at least 75% aggregate in the three subjects and 60% in each
All first-degree applicants A recognised Class 12 qualification with at least five subjects, including a language; the allowed first-attempt and improvement years are set for each cycle

Under the 2026 BITSAT rules, 74.90% did not round up to the required 75%. Biology applicants could apply for B.Pharm. and Environmental and Sustainability Engineering if they met the subject rules. Other B.E. branches required Mathematics. The 2027 notice will confirm eligible Class 12 passing years and the result deadline.

How BITS Pilani Selects First-Degree Students

BITSAT is a computer-based entrance test with two sessions. Applicants may take one or both. When a student took both in 2026, BITS used the higher score for admission. Meeting the Class 12 marks rule remains necessary even with a strong BITSAT score.

After applying for BITSAT, students submit Class 12 marks and rank their programme and campus preferences. BITS then conducts allotment rounds, called iterations. Offers depend on the BITSAT score, eligible choices and available seats. Students must accept the offer and pay by its deadline.

Eligible first-rank board toppers can seek direct admission. International applicants may qualify through the separate SAT process. First-degree programmes have no management quota or lateral entry.

How to Apply for BITSAT and Admission

  1. Check the 2027 eligibility notice for the chosen programme and Class 12 passing year.
  2. Register on the BITS admissions portal when the 2027 application opens. Fill in personal details, subjects and test-centre choices.
  3. Choose one or both test sessions if that option is offered for 2027. Upload the requested files, pay the test fee and keep the confirmation.
  4. Book a test slot and download the hall ticket during the announced windows. Take BITSAT at the assigned centre.
  5. Complete the separate first-degree preference form with Class 12 marks, documents and programme choices when BITS opens it. Put preferred campuses and branches in the actual order wanted.
  6. Check each iteration result. If offered a seat, follow the payment and reporting instructions in the offer.

In 2026, one BITSAT session at an Indian or Nepal centre was ₹3,600 for male applicants and ₹3,100 for female or transgender applicants. Both sessions were ₹5,600 and ₹4,600 respectively. The 2027 test fees are awaited.

M.E., M.Pharm., MBA and PhD Admissions

M.E. and M.Pharm. applicants in 2026-27 needed at least 60% in the qualifying degree. Selection used the BITS higher-degree test or an accepted GATE/GPAT score. Some programmes accepted only the BITS test.

MBA Business Analytics required a degree of at least three years with 60% aggregate and Mathematics or Statistics at Class 12 or a higher level in 2026. Applicants took BAAT, followed by shortlisting for an interview. CAT, XAT or GMAT scores could also be considered where available. The 2027-28 MBA notice is awaited.

PhD admissions have their own department choices, test or interview and fee schedule. BITS opened applications in September 2026 for the second semester of 2026-27; that is a different intake from the 2027-28 first-degree cycle.

Documents, Admission Fees and Reporting

At reporting in 2026, students needed original documents and one self-attested copy. These included Class 10 and 12 records, identity proof and offer details, with additional documents for specific admission categories.

For the 2026-27 first-degree intake, students paid a one-time ₹64,100 admission fee and ₹2,91,500 first-semester tuition. Hostel, mess advances and other charges were separate. The 2027 offer will give the payment due after allotment.
