Mysore University Grading System and CGPA Calculation

The PG CBCS regulations split each course into four parts. C1, C2 and C3 carry 20% each as internal marks. C4 is the end-semester exam and carries 40%.

The total percentage in a course decides the grade. Grade point equals the course credit value (V) multiplied by the grade.

Marks (%) Grade Grade Point
95-100 10 V x 10
90-94 9.5 V x 9.5
85-89 9 V x 9
80-84 8.5 V x 8.5
75-79 8 V x 8
70-74 7.5 V x 7.5
65-69 7 V x 7
60-64 6.5 V x 6.5
50-59 6 V x 6
40-49 5 V x 5

CGPA is the sum of all grade points divided by total credits. The overall percentage is 10 x CGPA. A CGPA of 8 or above earns Distinction.

Example: A student scores 72% in a 4-credit course. The grade is 7.5. So the grade point is 30 (4 x 7.5).

Class Awarded on CGPA

  • CGPA from 8 to 10: Distinction
  • CGPA from 6 to below 8: First Class
  • CGPA from 5 to below 6: Second Class

Provisional and Final Grade Cards

Each PG department head issues a provisional grade card every semester. After the full course, the Registrar (Evaluation) issues the final grade card. Dropped courses never appear on the grade card.

How to Apply for Revaluation and Scrutiny After the Result

The Registrar (Evaluation) sets the revaluation dates in each result notice. Students first ask for a photocopy of the answer script. Then they pay for revaluation if needed.

The table compares the two 2026 windows. PG revaluation is called challenge valuation.

Step UG SEP (March 2026) PG 4th Semester (September 2026)
Photocopy request window March 7-9, 2026 September 21-23, 2026
Revaluation fee payment window March 13-18, 2026 September 24-27, 2026
Revaluation fee per paper Rs. 1,760 Rs. 4,980
Photocopy fee per paper Rs. 1,070 Rs. 1,070

UG students can also ask for retotalling at Rs. 810 per paper. UG answer-script copies go to the student's email. PG copies are uploaded to the UUCMS student login.

Steps to Apply on UUCMS

  1. Log in to the Student portal on uucms.karnataka.gov.in.
  2. Open the exam details and pick the semester.
  3. Select each subject for photocopy, revaluation or retotalling.
