Mr. Rakesh Rai is the Vice President-Marketing at Hitbullseye, Chandigarh. He believes in utilizing the potential of every individual by offering them liberty in the working environment to yield maximum throughput for the organization. Having worked for over 18 years in the education sector, the fondness for students and a drive to bring change to develop and evolve keeps him connected with the education sector. Here is what he has to say in his interview.
What are the key factors that keep you connected with the education sector?
“There is a dynamic potential in the students to explore every dimension which amazes me”
Having served the education sector for over 18 years now, I have developed a fondness for connecting with students and working for them. Their perspective amazes me, and it won't be far-fetched to say that I get to learn a lot from them. With the new education policy, I am sure things are brighter than ever. We cannot expect results to be immediate, but this a step in the right direction. I see the potential that our country has right now, and it is truly encouraging. By being able to contribute to the betterment of the education sector, I go to bed every night as a happy man.
What is your philosophy of leadership? How would you describe your leadership style?
“Each individual must be given the free space to explore and work with maximum potential”
I firmly believe in Liberty. During my prolonged career, Liberty was always bestowed upon me by my mentor Mr Hirdesh Madan (the founder of 'Hitbullseye). I believe every individual has a distinct skillset and to bring out the best in them, we must let them work in their style, let them explore, in short, let them experiment as long as it doesn't hamper the organisation's growth. I always think like an entrepreneur and ask my team to do the same. More than ideas, I look forward to implementation. Fear of committing mistakes hinders your full potential, none of my team members is afraid of that; this trust of mine gives them significant energy to work even more challengingly.

How do you strategize about the key programs and plans for the marketing and administration of your institute?
“While in the process, it is pivotal to eradicate barriers so they don’t pile up and become burden”
Identifying goals and prioritising them according to our needs and requirements is the first step. I brainstorm with my team and build strategies for the targets we have. In the process of continuous improvement, I believe in fixing each barrier rather than tolerating and working around.
Successful revenue growth is critical to any company’s strategy and resilience, and this is my top priority. Those who have seen my working style always know how I expect my team to work.
How does the coaching style at HitBullsEye ensure the best development of the students so that they may be able to crack their respective exams?
“We believe in a constructive way of marching forward by holding everyone’s hands”
- We have been into this industry for 22 years, and our curriculum has continuously evolved to cater to student’s needs. The time table and roadmap of the syllabus is curated to motivate the students and to have a clarity of short term goals. We track if students are logging into the account regularly, downloading eBooks or watching complete videos among others actionable.
- We also have powerful Artificial Intelligence-based Test analytics to identify areas of strength and weakness to improve performance of students. We keep them engaged constructively. Our student community and groups at Telegram are robust; the student also helps each other in these groups that are administered by our faculty. In short, as soon as a student signs up with Hitbullseye, he/she becomes one of our own.
“We are keenly working on building a team that believes in our values. We are also spending a great number of resources on content because we're a content-driven organisation and in order to stay on top we've got to generate quality content. We also make sure that the delivery and consumption is as smooth as possible.”
What would you like people to know about your coaching institute they may not know?
“We render a lot of our materials for free which students can get access on our website”
- Some people are still unaware that we offer a lot of free content on our portal. Test series, video lectures, study material, you name it! As soon as an aspirant registers on our portal, he/she can access a wide range of free study material. Yes, the perks of going for the paid one do exist, but the fact that we're offering a vast amount of free content as well is rare these days.
- We get messages from all across the nation, even the remote areas as to how we've helped them with their preparations. Hitbullseye is not restricted to any particular part as we've got students even in the remote regions of the nation. Ten days back, I received a call from a student who prepared with us and was thanking me just because of Hitbullseye that he got admission in his college. He said that he was from a remote area in Arunachal Pradesh. These feedbacks are vital for us.
What are some of the biggest challenges for the coaching industry?
“There are multiple challenges that causes hindrance while taking online classes”
- When it comes to online education, there are many challenges that we encounter. There is a hiatus in engagement, wherein keeping all the students involved in a session becomes a challenging task. In a classroom environment, the teacher keeps asking questions which often draws attention and keeps the aspirants awake and active, but in online mode, it is a mighty challenge.
- Secondly, and most importantly, the competition is not evident in online coaching. In offline coaching, aspirants are well aware of the game they're facing, but it's not the same in online mode. We're working on getting these things in line, and thankfully we're making giant strides in making online education better.
