Vidyasiri Scholarship is known as KarePass. It is one kind of scholarship for SC/ST/OBC/PwD students who are pursuing a post matriculation program. Vidyasiri Scholarship is given by Government of Karnataka for the students belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PwD category.
Vidyasiri Scholarship has three sub-divisions. These are:
- Free Hostel Accommodation/Fee for Post-Matric Courses
- Prathibha Puraskar Scholarship for SSLC/Secondary PUC
- Full Course Fee concession for PMS FAAS, FC, and NUR
Candidates need to apply for these programs three times separately.

Vidyasiri Scholarship Eligibility
For applying Vidyasiri Scholarship Program student need to check eligible criteria for this scholarship:
- Candidates should belong to SC/ST/OBC/PWD categories.
- There are three separate eligibility criteria for free hostel accommodation, Prathibha Puraskar Scholarship for SSLC/Secondary PUC and Full Course Fee Concession for PMS FAAS, FC, NUR.
Criteria for Free Hostel Accommodation Scheme
- Students should belong primarily in SC/ST/OBC/PWD
- Students are shortlisted based on their merit.
- Students should have qualified class 10 with a pretty score for shortlisting.
- This is only available for post-matric programs.
Criteria for Prathibha Puraskar Scholarship
- Students should belong primarily in SC/ST/OBC/PWD in category-1, category 2A, category 3A and 3B.
- Students should be a permanent resident of the Karnataka State.
- Candidates who have scored 90% or above belong in SSLC/ Secondary PUC or equivalent exam.
- The annual income of the family of the candidate should be:
- For Category I : Up to INR 2.50 lakhs,
- For Category 2A, 3A and 3B: Up to INR 1 Lakh.
- The applicant must study in Karnataka Government Private Schools or Colleges.
- The Pratibha Puraskar facility is planned only a one-time per student for similar courses.
Criteria for Full Course Fee concession
- The applicant should be a permanent citizen of Karnataka State.
- For SC or ST candidates, the annual income of the parents/guardians/family should be up to 2 lakh per year.
- For backward class or PWD candidates, the income of parents/guardians/family should be up to 1 lakh per year.
- Applicants should be pursuing post-matric programs in any Institute approved by the Karnataka Government.
- To apply for this scholarship, the applicant should have 75% attendance in their course of Studying.
Vidyasiri Scholarship Benefits
Vidyasiri Scholarship has three separate types of benefit from three schemes (Free Hostel Accommodation, Prathibha Purskar, PMS FAAS FC Scholarship.

Free Hostel Accommodation:
- Hostel Accommodation free ( Fees will be provided by Karnataka government)
- Applicants will be chosen based on Merit criteria.
Pratibha Puraskar Scholarship:
- Applicants are shortlisted based on merit criteria.
- Scholarship Money is transferred to the Applicant’s bank Account.

How to apply for the Vidyasiri Scholarship?
Application Process
- The online application Vidyasiri Scholarship form 2021 is available on the official website of KarePass Portal.
- KarePass Portal is the online platform for Karnataka electronic Payment and application system of scholarship.
- Applicants first need to visit KarePass.cgg.gov.in/the official website of Vidyasiri/KARePass.
- At the homepage, three choices will be provided
- Free Hostel Registration;
- Pratibha Puraskar Registration;
- Fresh & Renewal Registrations for PMS FAAS, FC, and NUR;
- Applicants need to select the proper option and click on “Apply Now” given on the next page.
- After then, Applicants need to fill in the personal details, Annual Income details, Aadhaar no, SSLC details, etc.
- Candidates need to select SC/ST/OBC or PWD class as per the criteria fulfilling.
- A candidate with a disability has to apply in the PWD class.
- Then submit the Application.
- The system will automatically generate an application number.
- Applicants need to note down the Application Number for checking the status of the Application.
- Applicants who are applying from their colleges and institutions should apply one week before the application ending date.

- SC/ ST/ OBC/ PWD certificate, issued by Tahsildar or Sub-Tahsildar.
- Family Annual Income certificate, issued by Tahsildar or Sub-Tahsildar.
- Senior Secondary leaving certificate (SSLC), issued by the School Authority.
- Transfer Certification(TC), issued by the School Authority.
- Bank passbook copy for Account details (Account Number, Account Holder Name, IFSC Code, Brunch Name)
- Latest passport photographs
