Ishan Uday Scholarship 2021: Last Date, Eligibility Criteria, Benefits, Selection, Application Process

The Ishan Uday Scholarship is a scheme launched jointly by the HRD Ministry and the University Grants Commission from the academic session 2014-15 to promote higher education and encourage students coming from economically weaker sections of the North Eastern Region (NER).

A total of 10,000 scholarships are covered every year under this scheme. For general degree courses, the total amount of scholarship is ₹5400/month. While for Technical and Professional courses which include Medical & Paramedical Courses, the total amount of scholarship is ₹7800/month. The amount will be paid to eligible candidates via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

And the list of awardees will be activated to Public Financial Management System (PFMS) by the NIC. PFMS will lead to payment files on the basis of the type, of course, being pursued by the awardee candidate (general degree/ technical/ medical/ professional/ paramedical).

Ishan Uday Scholarship Eligibility

• Students must be a legal resident of NER and must be qualified (10+2) or equivalent exam from a school within NER and recognized by either of these boards, CBSE, ICSE, NIOS within NER only.
• Students must be pursuing general degree courses, technical & professional courses (which includes Integrated Courses as well) from College/University/Institution which fulfills the below-mentioned criteria.

1. College/ University/ Institution must be included under sections 2(f) and 12(B) of UGC Act, which receives funds by State/Central Govt.
2. Deemed to be Universities included under section 3 of UGC Act, 1956 and also eligible to receive grants-in-aid from UGC.

• Only first-year UG students are eligible to apply for this scheme.
• For integrated degree courses, the scholarship will be credible for the complete time span of the course.
• For dual degree courses, the scholarship will be credible for the first degree only. The University shall clarify it while suggesting a candidate for the scholarship
• The income of the student’s parent should not be greater than 4.5 lakh/annum to avail the scholarship.
• Transgender candidates are equally eligible for this and Govt. protects the reservation rights as per the Govt. of India norms.

Not Eligible students for Ishan Uday Scholarship

Students who fall under any category which are mentioned below are not eligible for this scholarship:

1. Students who are pursuing courses/programs through any open university.
2. Students receiving admissions via “Management Quota”.
3. Students pursuing diploma courses that are not equivalent to any degree.
4. Students who have already availed of any other scheme to continue their UG programs.

How to Apply for Ishan Uday Scholarship 2021?

1. Visit the National Scholarship Portal official website: Home - National Scholarship Portal (scholarships.gov.in)
2. Fill in all the required details such as Aadhar Number, Bank Details, state, gender, Email ID, and mobile number.
3. Candidates will receive their login details after successful registration. Application ID is generated depending on the domicile states of candidates.
4. Next, Candidates need to complete OTP Authorization Process.
5. After successfully completing the OTP Authorization Process, candidates can fill the online application form for the Ishan Uday Scholarship.
6. Attach all the required documents and submit the application.

Ishan Uday Scholarship 2021 Selection Process

The committee selects the candidates based on academic merit.

• 12th Grade marks will be considered as a major deciding factor for their selection.
• While paying out scholarships, the population density of the states is also examined.
• If seats remain unfulfilled because of the non-availability of eligible candidates in any state, then the remaining scholarships will be awarded to the rest of the states.
