One of the leading telecommunication giants, Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited, initiated scholarships for economically weaker sections 2022-2023. Headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra, Jio is offering scholarships to 2800 students in India. Students from high school till post-graduation can apply for this scholarship, irrespective of their fields.
Joint Implementation Opportunity, aka JIO, uses only VoLTE (voice-over long-term evolution) to provide India's most exemplary 4G network. With the growth of telecommunication, Jio wants the kids of India to grow along with it. Therefore, they came up with the Jio Scholarship to reward kids with Rs. 35000, Rs. 38000, Rs. 45000, Rs. 52000 or Rs. 55000, depending upon their educational class. Jio Scholarship Eligibility
The candidate applying for the Jio Scholarship must meet the following criteria:
- The applicant must be a citizen of India.
- The student should be from an economically weaker background.
- The candidate must be a 10th, 11th, 12th, under-graduation, or post-graduation student.
- The candidate scored 70% or higher in 10th from a recognized state board or 85% or higher from CBSE or ICSE boards.
- The applicant should have scored 70% or more in 11th from a recognized state board or 85% or more from CBSE or ICSE boards.
- The applicant should have scored 65% or more in 12th from a recognized state board or 80% or more from CBSE or ICSE boards.
- The student should have scored 75% or higher in an undergraduate program from an approved college or university.
- The student should have scored 75% or higher in a post-graduate program from an approved college or university.
Jio Scholarship Benefits
The candidate needs to apply every year to avail of the benefits of this scholarship. If the documents are verified and the candidate is approved, then the selected candidates will be eligible for either of these scholarships-

Follow these steps to apply for the Jio Scholarship 2021-
- Visit the Jio official website.
- Login on the portal and access the application form link.
- Fill in the details as asked, including your father’s name, mother’s name, Aadhaar number, bank details, etc.
- Upload your photograph and signature.
- Carefully check whether all the details have been submitted or not.
- Submit the form and visit the Jio center for verification of documents.
- If you cannot access the website, visit an offline Jio Store and ask the authorities to assist you.

Ques. How will they select the candidates?
Ans. There is no information regarding any written test or interview till now. The candidates may be selected based on their merits and academic performance. Their weaker household income, reservations, and age may also contribute while determining the final candidates.
Ques. I do not fall under the economically weaker category. Can I still apply for this scholarship?
Ans. The candidates who are applying for Jio Scholarship must have valid proof of their annual income. If they fail to prove that they are economically weaker, the authorities may discard their application. Therefore, being financially vulnerable is a must to apply for this scholarship.
Ques. How to know whether I am economically weaker or not?
Ans. According to EWS reservation, the definition of family is a person who seeks the benefit of reservation, their parents or siblings below the age of 18 years, and their spouse and children below 18 years.
The candidate must fulfill these criteria to fall in the category of an economically weaker section and get an EWS certificate-
- The family’s annual income is less than Rs. 8 lakhs
- The family does not own more than 5 acres of agricultural land
- The residential flat is less than 1000 sq. ft.
- The residential plot area is less than 100 sq. yards in a notified municipality sector.
- The residential plot area is less than 200 sq. yards in a non-notified municipality sector.
Ques. How will I get to know that I got the scholarship?
Ans. Check the official website for the announcement of the distribution of scholarships. Once this is done, you will receive a mail/message confirming the successful delivery of your scholarship. After all, this, check your bank account details whether the amount has been credited or not.
Ques. Does the stream in UG/PG matter in the selection of candidates for the scholarship?
Ans. Jio scholarship is for every Indian student. Whether you are from a science background or arts, it does not matter. All that matters is your scorecard, capability, and performance in your academics.
