Australian Catholic University MBA Admissions
The Australian Catholic University MBA is a 2-year full-time program offered at the North Sydney and Melbourne campuses, with four specialisations. Course details below come from the official ACU MBA course page.
MBA Entry Requirements and Experience
ACU does not require GMAT or GRE for the MBA. Entry is on academic record and may ask for professional experience in the specialisation pathway.
- Academic: Bachelor’s with credit average (60 percent) in any discipline
- GMAT or GRE: Not required
- Interview: Not published as a standard admission step
- Work experience: Preferred but not mandatory for most pathways; relevant experience helps the specialisation choice
- English: IELTS 6.0 overall with no band below 5.5
MBA Specialisations
Students pick a specialisation after a shared core. Each pathway maps to a sector where ACU has existing teaching strength.
- Accounting and Finance: For CA, CPA, or finance-oriented careers
- Information Technology: Business and IT dual-focus pathway
- Occupational Health, Safety and Environment: Regulated-sector management
- Research: Research-oriented capstone, feeds into PhD
Reality check: ACU MBA tuition sits at AUD 32,072 to 36,000 per year (INR 20.93 to 23.50 Lakhs), lower than Group of Eight MBAs. The trade-off is lesser global brand recognition, though AACBS membership gives it accreditation signal.
Australian Catholic University PhD Admissions and Funding
Australian Catholic University PhD admission runs year-round, with applications accepted up to 12 weeks before the planned start date. Research strength sits in nursing, theology, psychology, education, and public health.
PhD Entry Pathway
PhD entry needs a Master’s by research, or a Bachelor’s with Honours First Class, plus a developed research proposal.
- Academic entry: Master’s by research, or Honours First Class or 2:1
- Research proposal: 2 to 5 pages aligned with an ACU research centre
- Supervisor contact: Prospective supervisor must agree before formal application
- English: IELTS 6.5 overall with 6.0 in each band
- Duration: 3.5 years full-time
PhD Scholarship Funding
ACU runs the Vice Chancellor’s Excellence Scholarship, which covers full tuition plus a tax-free stipend and relocation allowance for international PhD candidates.
- Tuition: 100 percent waiver for the full 3.5 years
- Stipend: AUD 33,511 per year (INR 21.87 Lakhs) for 3.5 years
- Relocation: One-time AUD 2,000 (INR 1.31 Lakhs)

Planning note: Scholarship rounds for PhD at ACU open twice a year. Build the proposal with a named supervisor at least 6 months before the intended intake to clear internal review.
Australian Catholic University Application Process
The Australian Catholic University application for Indian students runs on EAAMS, the ACU international application portal. The seven steps below cover submission to offer and acceptance.
- Research and shortlist programs on the ACU international site, mapping intake and campus to your preference
- Check eligibility against the program’s Indian academic equivalence and English band
- Register on EAAMS and start the application with personal and academic details
- Upload documents: Class XII and Bachelor’s transcripts, degree certificates, SOP, LORs, passport bio page, English test report, CV
- Pay the application fee of AUD 110 (INR 7,180) on the EAAMS application portal at submission
- Wait for the offer: Standard decisions arrive in 2 to 4 weeks; clinical offers may take 4 to 8 weeks after rank review
- Accept the offer by paying the tuition deposit, which triggers the Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) for your visa
ACU issues conditional offers if transcripts or English scores are pending. Deferral is allowed up to one semester on written request, so a February 2027 offer can roll to July 2027 if visa or finance timelines slip.
Australian Catholic University Documents Required
Australian Catholic University applications ask for a defined set of certified documents at submission. Missing paperwork is the most common cause of delays in the EAAMS review stage.
- Passport: Clear colour scan of the bio page, valid for at least 2 years
- Class XII marksheet and certificate: Certified copy in English
- Bachelor’s transcripts: Semester-wise, certified by the issuing university
- Bachelor’s degree certificate: Provisional certificate accepted if final is pending
- English test score report: IELTS, TOEFL iBT, PTE Academic, or CAE
- Statement of Purpose: 500 to 800 words covering goals and course fit
- Letters of recommendation: Two academic LORs, or one academic plus one professional
- CV or resume: One to two pages, mandatory for PG and MBA
- Work experience letters: If applicable, for MBA and some PG programs
- Photo: Recent passport-size colour photograph
- Research proposal: For MPhil and PhD applicants only, 2 to 5 pages
- Professional registration proof: AHPRA, VIT, QCT, or NESA where English waiver is claimed
All non-English documents need certified English translations. Certification should come from the issuing institution or a notary.
Australian Catholic University Acceptance Rate
Australian Catholic University does not publish an official institutional acceptance rate. Independent estimates place ACU in a moderately selective band.
Institutional Acceptance Pattern
ACU’s acceptance rate is estimated at 67 to 80 percent, based on competitive-intake program patterns and the university’s access-oriented admissions model. This means ACU admits most applicants who meet its stated requirements, with selectivity rising for clinical and limited-seat programs.
Based on student reviews, Indian applicants with Class XII at 70 percent and above and IELTS at the required band typically secure offers.
Program-level Competitiveness
Not every ACU program follows the institution-wide pattern. Health and clinical pathways run far tighter cut-offs.
- High competition: Bachelor of Physiotherapy, Bachelor of Nursing, Master of Clinical Psychology
- Moderate competition: Master of Information Technology, MBA, Bachelor of Biomedical Science
- Lower competition: Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Social Work, Master of Education
Insider note: ACU acceptance is strongly tied to meeting the English floor on first submission. A reapplication after a retake of IELTS or PTE within the same cycle is possible with no fresh fee if the initial decision was pending-English.
Australia Student Visa for Australian Catholic University
Indian students at Australian Catholic University apply for the Subclass 500 Student Visa through the Department of Home Affairs. India sits at Evidence Level 3, so applicants must show full financial and English evidence at lodgement.
The visa process starts once ACU issues the Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE). You then lodge the Subclass 500 online, upload financial proof covering tuition plus living costs of AUD 29,710 per year (INR 19.39 Lakhs), buy Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the full course, and prepare a Genuine Student (GS) statement replacing the earlier GTE. Biometrics are collected at a VFS Global centre in India. Processing typically runs 4 to 8 weeks, so apply as soon as the CoE is issued. Post-arrival, enrol with ACU within 7 days of landing and maintain full-time study to keep the visa active.
2026 update: Australia replaced the Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) requirement with the Genuine Student (GS) framework. Indian applicants now write a GS statement focused on study intent, with no requirement to prove temporary stay.

Overview
ACU was originally a nursing/medical school, so they have very good facilities on campus that others don't have. It is also one of the closest to where I live. I had also heard many great things about the school and its facilities were certainly one of the main strong points about going there. This particular course also had placements in the good first year and another deciding factor.
Overview
Since I really wanted to study in Brisbane, I only applied for colleges that are located in Brisbane city and ACU is one of those. Out of my first 4 preferences, ACU was the one that accepted my application. I also chose this uni as their graduates have a high employment rate and they have programs that help you find a location for your medical placements.
Overview
The Australian Catholic University, had a sister partnership with my high school, granting access to most students, it was also the only uni that offered a degree in exercise science, combined with a teaching degree. It offered my two preferred degrees in one.
Overview
Great location, central to public transport, local cafes, shops, and parks. The facilities that ACU has top all other universities. The facilities represent clinical placement and act as a great learning source for all health science students.
Scholarship
No, I have not, haven?t tried as I don't meet most of the criteria so haven't thought about it.
Overview
This college is the best for my degree. They offer hands on placement within the first few years of your my degree in which is ideal when entering a the teaching force. The university has a strong focus on ethics and not just intelligence in which I admire about the college.
Overview
This college is the only one I found that offered such a unique course that appeals to me, it is a very welcoming and safe campus and offers a range of extracurricular, social justice and global experiences.
