Griffith University offers 30+ scholarships for international students, of which 15+ are directly accessible to Indian applicants.

Awards range from a 20% automatic tuition waiver up to a fully funded PhD package worth over INR 1.5 Crore across three and a half years.

  • Standard international tuition sits at AUD 32,000 to AUD 45,000 per year (INR 21.3 to INR 29.9 Lakhs) for most Griffith UG and PG coursework programs.
  • With the automatic 20% Academic Merit waiver applied, net tuition drops to AUD 25,600 to AUD 36,000 per year (INR 17 to INR 24 Lakhs).
  • Stacking the 50% Griffith Remarkable Scholarship instead, net tuition falls further to AUD 16,000 to AUD 22,500 per year (INR 10.6 to INR 15 Lakhs).
  • Next application deadline: tentative 15 November 2026 for the Trimester 1 2027 intake, based on the 2026 cycle pattern.

Currency Note: All INR conversions use the live rate of 1 AUD = INR 66.54 as of August 2026. Ranges reflect the tuition variation across Griffith University’s coursework programs.

Griffith University Scholarships for UG Students

Indian students starting a Griffith bachelor’s degree in Trimester 1 2027 can secure tuition waivers from 20% up to 50%. The two lower-tier awards apply automatically once you accept an offer, with no separate form.

ScholarshipValueEligibility for Indian ApplicantsDeadline (2026-27)
Griffith Remarkable Scholarship50% tuition waiver for the full degreeGPA 6.0 on a 7-point scale (approx. Class XII aggregate 85% or above); new commencing UG student in 2026 or 2027; Letter of Offer required firstRolling; apply post-offer for Trimester 1 2027
Vice Chancellor’s International Scholarship50% tuition waiver for the full degreeGPA 6.0 on a 7-point scale; non-Australian and non-NZ citizen; commencing in 2026 or 202715 August 2026 (Trimester 3 2026); tentative 15 November 2026 (Trimester 1 2027)
International Student Academic Excellence Scholarship25% tuition waiverGPA 5.5 on a 7-point scale (approx. Class XII aggregate 75% to 80%); automatic consideration on offerAutomatic; no separate application
International Academic Merit Scholarship20% tuition waiverGPA 4.5 on a 7-point scale (approx. Class XII aggregate 60% to 65%); automatic consideration on offerAutomatic; no separate application

The 20% and 25% awards need no paperwork. Griffith’s international team screens every accepted offer and applies the highest waiver you qualify for at the point of enrolment.

The two 50% awards need one extra step. You must first accept your Letter of Offer, then submit the scholarship application before your trimester’s cut-off, so timing your admission by August or mid-November matters.

Griffith University Scholarships for PG / Master’s Students

PG applicants access the same core four tuition-waiver awards as bachelor’s students. Griffith adds two coursework-only PG awards, including a AUD 5,000 (INR 3.3 Lakhs) cash grant tied to the MBA program.

ScholarshipValueEligibility for Indian ApplicantsDeadline (2026-27)
Griffith Remarkable Scholarship50% tuition waiverBachelor’s aggregate 70% or above (GPA 6.0/7); new commencing PG coursework student in 2026 or 2027Rolling; apply post-offer
Vice Chancellor’s International Scholarship50% tuition waiverBachelor’s 70% or above (GPA 6.0/7); non-Australian and non-NZ citizenTrimester 3 2026 closes 15 August 2026; Trimester 1 2027 tentative mid-November 2026
International Student Academic Excellence Scholarship25% tuition waiverBachelor’s aggregate 65% or above (GPA 5.5/7); automatic on offerAutomatic

MBA Scholarship for Values-Driven LeadershipAUD 5,000 (INR 3.3 Lakhs), one-off cashMBA, Graduate Certificate in Business Administration or Graduate Certificate in Leadership offer holder; short essay on ethical leadership requiredRolling; apply after program acceptance
IWC Scholarship for Master of Catchment ScienceFull tuition offsetOffer holder for the Master of Catchment Science; academic merit ranking1 August 2027 (tentative, annual cycle)

The Griffith Remarkable award and the Vice Chancellor’s stipend cannot be combined with each other. You pick whichever offers the earlier decision for your intake, and stack it with the automatic Merit or Excellence waiver where the terms permit.

Reddit Insight: Indian PG applicants say the 20% Academic Merit waiver arrives with the Letter of Offer if the bachelor’s average clears 60%. No dedicated form is needed, so most first-round offers already show the discount on the CoE.

India-Specific Scholarships at Griffith University

Griffith University does not list a scholarship reserved only for Indian nationals. Indian students instead access the broader international-student stack, where the automatic waivers do most of the funding work.

Practical pathway for a bachelor’s or master’s applicant coming from India:

  • The 20% Academic Merit waiver applies on offer for a Class XII or bachelor’s aggregate around 60%.
  • The 25% Academic Excellence waiver upgrades you if you clear 70% in Class XII or bachelor’s.
  • The 50% Griffith Remarkable award is worth a dedicated application if you sit at 85% or above in Class XII, or hold a first-class bachelor’s.

Two India-based external awards can layer on top of a Griffith offer. The JN Tata Endowment offers a gift up to INR 10 Lakhs plus an interest-bearing loan up to INR 7.5 Lakhs for Indian graduates. The Inlaks Shivdasani Foundation funds up to USD 100,000 (INR 83.3 Lakhs) for Indians under 30 admitted to a ranked overseas university.

Reddit Insight: Indian applicants recommend pairing a state-government interest-subsidy education loan (Karnataka, Maharashtra or Tamil Nadu schemes) with the Griffith 25% waiver. The tuition-only waiver still leaves a gap for AUD 29,710 (INR 19.8 Lakhs) yearly living costs.

Griffith University PhD Scholarships

A funded Griffith PhD covers tuition, an annual living stipend of AUD 35,656 (INR 23.7 Lakhs) and Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for three and a half years. The total package for one Indian doctoral candidate can exceed INR 1.5 Crore.

Every Griffith PhD scholarship is supervisor-gated. You cannot submit a scholarship application until a Griffith academic accepts you as their candidate, which usually needs a research proposal and two rounds of email discussion.

PhD funding tenure caps at 3.5 years for doctoral candidates and 2 years for a Master by Research. Indian candidates typically start supervisor outreach six months ahead of the scholarship round to leave time for proposal refinement.

External Government Scholarships

Indian applicants can stack government-backed external awards on top of a Griffith offer. The Australia Awards Scholarship remains the single most valuable route, covering tuition, airfare, a fortnightly stipend, OSHC and a one-off establishment allowance.

Reddit Insight: The Australia Awards programme receives roughly 5,000 Indian applications each year for around 350 seats across every Australian university. The sub-3% acceptance rate makes it a stretch option, so treat the Griffith Remarkable pathway as your base plan.

Griffith University Scholarships: Frequently Asked Questions

Ques. What is the maximum scholarship stack an Indian student can get at Griffith University?

Ans. A funded PhD candidate receives the highest total, worth over INR 1.5 Crore across 3.5 years. The package combines the RTP Stipend of AUD 35,656 (INR 23.7 Lakhs) per year, full tuition and OSHC. For coursework students, the ceiling is the Griffith Remarkable or Vice Chancellor’s Scholarship at 50% of tuition. Neither can be stacked with the automatic Excellence or Merit waivers.

Ques. When should Indian students apply for Griffith University scholarships for the Trimester 1 2027 intake?

Ans. Submit your Griffith admission application by early October 2026 so your Letter of Offer arrives with time to spare. Apply for the Remarkable or Vice Chancellor’s award by tentative 15 November 2026 for Trimester 1 2027. Expect scholarship outcomes in December 2026 or January 2027.

Ques. Do I need to apply separately for Griffith University merit scholarships?

Ans. The 20% Academic Merit and 25% Academic Excellence awards apply automatically once Griffith International reviews your accepted offer. The 50% Remarkable Scholarship and the 50% Vice Chancellor’s Scholarship both need a separate online scholarship application after your Letter of Offer arrives.

Ques. What GPA do Indian students need for a Griffith University scholarship?

Ans. A Class XII or bachelor’s aggregate around 60% (GPA 4.5 on a 7-point scale) unlocks the 20% automatic Merit waiver. Around 70% (GPA 5.5/7) qualifies you for the 25% Excellence waiver. An 85% Class XII score or a first-class bachelor’s (GPA 6.0/7) is the entry bar for the 50% Remarkable and Vice Chancellor’s awards.

Ques. How does the Griffith Remarkable Scholarship work for Indian PG students?

Ans. The Griffith Remarkable Scholarship halves your tuition for the full length of a coursework master’s degree. You keep it as long as you meet the ongoing enrolment terms each trimester. The award is tuition-only, so living costs of AUD 29,710 per year (INR 19.8 Lakhs) still need coverage through savings, a loan, or part-time work up to 24 hours per week under the Australian student visa.

Ques. Will a Griffith University scholarship cover Brisbane or Gold Coast living costs?

Ans. Only the RTP Stipend and the Australia Awards cover living expenses in Brisbane or on the Gold Coast for Indian students. Coursework waivers reduce tuition only, so Indian students still budget AUD 25,000 to AUD 30,000 per year (INR 16.6 to INR 20 Lakhs) for rent, food, transport and OSHC.

Griffith University Scholarships: Students' Opinion

AI-Generated Summary based on 9 Reviews

The reviewer received financial assistance from multiple sources, including Centrelink's Youth Allowance payments and a one-time $240 bursary from the university. They also obtained a Relocation Scholarship from Centrelink to move to university and a student start-up loan for study costs each semester. Additionally, they benefited from the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program Scholarship, which provided $2000 per trimester for the first two trimesters, requiring an essay for eligibility.

Due to the pandemic, a 20% scholarship was automatically applied based on graduation marks, compared to the usual 10%. The campus itself does not provide these financial aids. For Ph.D. or master's students, a $20,000 scholarship is available, but government approval is currently unlikely.

Easy process overall, my agent helped me out theoughout the process, there was a call interview in to order to confirm if the student was genuine or not but other than that it was standard documentation for foreign studies #3 in world for nursing, great environment and people, close to where I was going to live and a very reputed institute worldwide Its a great uni, and u have access to all sorts of things ranging from financial help to events and parties. I really felt that chosing this uni was a great decsision

I got 20 percent scholarship due to the pandemic otherwise it was 10 percent on the basis of my marks in graduation. No application is required for that automatically it is applied.

There are several reasons behind accepting the offer. Firstly, the location that is gold coast such an exquisite place having pleasant weather all over the year. Secondly, GC is the tourist place so getting a job will be a bit easier in comparison to other states. Lastly, Griffith university was famous for the course which I am pursuing and it is the most important reason among all.

I recieved the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program Scholarship wich is $2000/trimester for the first 2 trimesters. To obtain this scholarship I was required to weite an essay on why I deserved it.

I chose the Bachelor of Psychology (Hons.) Program at Griffith University as the cost of the course for international students is more affordable when compared to other universities in Australia. The course is highly regarded in the country as one of the best schools to offer APAC registered psychology courses. The university has plenty support systems such as international student advisors and griffith mates which helps nee students integrate into the community and get to know other new students and the country. These support systems aided in my decision making process of chosing a university.

The campus does not offer these. IF you are a Ph.D. student or masters student you can apply for a $20k scholarship. The Aus govt isn't approving these though so you likely won't get one. I never worked at uni.

Its a nice quiet uni in the woods. It's a beautiful campus. The courses are understanding and at my pace. The community is international and very queer-friendly. Griffith uni has nice classes with recorded lectures and workshops. I also did a biomedical science degree. The lecturers listen to students.

It was known for being a good uni for a teaching degree. The campus is small and easy to navigate but still has a couple of cafes and lots of space to study. The uni was very close to my house so I saved money by staying at home.

I chose Griffith because it is well rated by other peers and very well known for its nursing course. It's close to home and easy for me to access the on-campus classes and off campus curriculum online.

I have received financial aid in the form of a once off $240 bursary from the University. I have also received scholarships from the Australian Centrelink department in the form of a Relocation Scholarship to move to university. I also received a student start-up loan from Centrelink to assist with the costs of study each semester and regular Youth Allowance payments to assist with the cost of living while studying.

The entry level was easy to achieve for the degree I wanted, had really good reports from past students. It has great teaching staff for the subjects with a ton of real-world experience and offers a lot of practical elements to go with the theory. Also has pretty decent and cheap accommodation.

I chose this college because of its wide range of courses I can choose between and the ability to merge some degrees within each other. At some colleges, they only have degrees such as law but at Griffith, they have degrees that you can merge such as law and politics.

Yes, I gain financial help via Centrelink who give me youth allowance payments for studying full time.

I was from a different state where the closest uni didn't offer my chosen degree, Griffith came and had an info day and I really liked the values and the location to move to.
