University of Queensland at it’s three campuses is known for having around 134 nationalities and a fast growing hub of business and investment ventures in the Asia-pacific. The university has a total enrollment of 53,696 students, out of which the international student population exceeds 18,000 in number, making it one of the most popular places of higher education in Australia. The University of Queensland offers freshaman amissions for the February intake for most of its programs. International students can apply fover 500 programs at UQ- undergraduate, honours, co-op, and postgraduate (coursework or research). Undergraduate enrollments for the year of 2019 observed were 28,551 followed by PG coursework- 11, 291 and PG research- 3,333. Candidates who wish to study beyond their field of interests can apply for cross-institutional study and non-award study opportunities that are available at the University of Queensland.

The university offers courses in the fields of Agriculture & Environment, Engineering and Computing, Law, Medicine, Education, Business & Economics and Health Sciences. The programs having the maximum enrollment are Doctor of Philosophy, Bachelor of Arts, and Bachelor of Engineering (Honours).

University of Queensland Admission Deadlines

Admissions at University of Queensland are offered for the February intake. However, continuing international students also have a specific deadline by which they have to enrol with the university. The general application deadlines for University of Queensland admissions both freshman and continuing are:

Semester 1November 30 of the previous year
Semester 2May 31 of the same year

The deadlines for some postgraduate courses may vary depending on their department. International students are advised to visit the respective course pages before making applications. Additionally, for UQ offers admission way ahead (2 years in advance) of the specific application deadlines. 

University of Queensland International Student Admissions

International applicants need to fulfill some additional requirements in order to apply for admission at the University of Queensland. These comprise of English language proficiency and visa related documentation.

English Proficiency Test Score Requirements

Visa Process for International Students

International applicants have to apply for their Australian student visa online through the Department of Home Affairs online Application system.

  • Students can also take help of a UQ agent in their home country.
  • Students need to meet the General Temporary Entrant requirement/GTE.
  • A personal statement addressing the GTE is required to be submitted.
  • Applicants need to provide the following documents for GTE:
    • Copy of passport
    • High school transcripts/certificates
    • Proof of financial support/previous employment details
    • Bank statements
  • Students can apply for a student visa as soon as they get a Confirmation for Enrolment by the UQ.
  • To submit the visa application, students will also require the Overseas Student Health Cover/ OSHC.

University of Queensland Undergraduate Admissions

The University of Queensland has a vast international students body coming from 134 countries. Over 35,000 students (part-time included) enrolled in a number of undergraduate programs at UQ. To apply for admission, the applicant has to fulfil the following requirements -

  • Certified copies of secondary school transcripts or mark sheets are required.
    • Original copies should not be submitted as they would not be returned.
    • All documents are required to be submitted in English.
  • Results of final secondary school examination (school leaving certificate).
  • Copy of passport/National ID
  • Proof of English Language Proficiency: scores of tests requried to study in Australia 

International undergraduate applications can be submitted directly by the candidate or through an agent approved by the UQ.

University of Queensland Graduate Admissions

University of Queensland offers a diverse range of postgraduate programsin various fields including Engineering, Economics, International relations, Molecular Biology, Music, Nursing and Pharmacy.

Some programs also offer flexible entry pathways whereas some programs have a quota, getting selected into these programs is highly competitive. Package offers are also offered to students who are not able to meet minimum requirements for English Proficiency Tests, these involve English study at UQ-ICTE and a conditional offer to a UQ program.

International students who wish to apply with University of Queensland must ensure that it is important to fulfill the minimum eligibility criteria. Application status are usually updated in minimum 2-3 weeks, however, it may take longer than this period. If a student does not fulfill certain eligibility criteria, but has other excelled in other aspects of the applications and requirements, the university may send conditional offers to the students. In this case, the applicants are required to either required to take a preparatory course prior to their program, submit scores of exams they might be asked to reappear for, or attain a specific consistent GPA while pursuing the program.
