Monash University offers admissions to international students for its winter and summer term. Over 83,000 students enrolled with the university for the class of 2019-2020. Around 54,000 students enrolled for Monash’s UG programs and over 23,000 for PG programs. International students contributed with 27,000 or more enrollments to the student body of the university. 

At the 10 faculties of the university, more than 450 courses are offered including 145+ UG minors and major, and specializations and 150+ graduate course work, diploma, and certificate courses. The disciplines that have maximum number of international students admitted included are:

International aspirants who wish to apply for undergraduate courses at Monash, apply through VTAC or through the Monash University’s online application. When applying directly, you are automatically considered for entrance scholarships for international students at Monash

  • Minimum age requirement for international students seeking admission at Monash is 17. 
  • Pathway programs are available for students below 17 looking to begin with their higher education. 
  • Admission to UG programs is available throughout the year. 
  • International students are offered admissions to both full-time and part-time programs.

Monash University Admission Deadlines

The deadlines for Australian universities vary among the programs offered at the university. The admissions to undergraduate programs are offered on a rolling basis. For graduate programs the admission deadlines are dependent on the faculty. However, it generally opens by early August and closes by late November.

Monash University International Student Admission

Admission for international students to Monash university are open throughout the year for most of the programs. Applicants are judged on the basis of their academic excellence and language proficiency. As international students, applicants are required to fulfill additional requirements for studying in Australia.

Monash University Requirements

You are required to have the following documents when applying for admissions at Monash University:

  • Official transcripts from previous education institutions. 
    • Certified English translations of the transcripts, if required. 
  • Scores for exams required to study in Australia. These include IELTS, TOEFL, GRE, GMAT score. 
    • IELTS/TOEFL are required for all international applicants
    • GRE scores are required for certain PhD and masters programs at Monash. 
    • GMAT scores are required for admissions to MBA program at Monash
  • Letter of recommendations are required for certain programs. 
  • Work experience is required for certain programs
  • Student visa
  • Minimum age: 17
  • You must additionally provide course code and course name when making applications. 

Test Scores Requirements

International applicants are required to submit certain test score results when applying for various programs at Monash University. The admissions to both UG and PG program require applicants to have the same language proficiency which is as follows:

You can submit any of the above-mentioned scores for fulfilling English language proficiency for undergraduate and postgraduate programs. 

Alternatively, completion of four years of education in English medium institution can also be submitted as a proof of language proficiency for international students from non-native English speaking countries. 

Visa Requirements

Your Australian student visa will only be accepted if you fulfill the following minimum requirements:

  • Receive electronic Certificate of Enrollment (eCOE)
  • Meet the genuine temporary entrant requirements
  • Proof of sufficient funds: As per the Australian government, the cost of living for international students that must be reflected in their financial status is 21,000 AUD/year. 
  • Meet ELP requirements
  • Meet health and character requirements
  • Submit OSHC.

Monash University Undergraduate Admissions

The university assesses international application against the minimum age, English, and academic entry requirements. If all the documents are requirements are fulfilled then the university will make a full offer. An email will be sent to the applicant.

If the university does not offer an applicant a full offer immediately, the applicant may receive a conditional offer. A conditional offer means the applicant must submit more information in order to receive a full offer.

If the applicant is not successful for first-course preference, the university will assess for the next preference on the application form, or for a pathway program through Monash College.
