Program Description

  • Master of Law in General Law at McGill University allows students to complete this program in 2 years.
  • There are two options to complete this program. They are thesis-based and non-thesis based or project-based.
  • This program offers an outstanding opportunity for students to immerse themselves in the McGill Law community by giving them maximum latitude in designing their program of study.
  • The LLM Thesis program is geared toward students who wish to continue their legal education primarily through research.
  • In addition to some courses, students focus on the production of a thesis evaluated by an examiner, but without the requirement of a thesis defence.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement

Academic Eligibility:

  • Students must have an Honours degree in LLB program.
  • Students holding a degree in another discipline like any JD or any Law program may also be eligible for admission.
  • A GPA of 3.2 out of 4.0 is required to apply for this program.

Indian Student Eligibility:

  • Indian students need to maintain an overall average of 60% in their 12th grade.
  • The minimum GPA required is 3.0/4.0 or students must have B grade in their bachelor’s degree.

Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test.
