Eligibility & Entry Requirement

Academic Eligibility:

  • Bachelor’s degree(4-year) or related field from a recognized institution.
  • The related fields include a UG degree in Marketing, Engineering, Finance, Arts, Science, Government, Health Care, Law, Education, Retail, Manufacturing.
  • GPA of at least 3.0/4.33 (B grade) which is the equivalent of 8.0/12 on Carleton’s scale. 

Work Experience Eligibility:

  • 2-years of professional work experience.
  • However, the work experience is more useful for students opting for the course-based Master's program.
  • For the thesis-based Master's program, admission is offered based upon publications, participation in research projects, and academic awards.


Students without related academic experience or work experience students should have also encouraged to apply, given they have following requirement:

  • Students who do not possess two years of professional work experience must complete the Internship portion of the MBA program.
  • Two academic recommendations from Professors are required unless the candidate meets the work experience criteria.

Indian Student Eligibility:

Indian students are eligible to apply if they meet one of the following eligibility criteria:

  • Completed of both a Bachelor’s (3 years) degree and a Master’s degree.
  • Or, completed a Bachelor’s degree requiring 4-years of study (e.g., B.Pharm., M.B.B.S., B.Tech., B.Eng., or B.Arch).
  • Or, minimum requirement overall i.e First-class division(75% or above, Distinction or Outstanding).
  • Or, complete 3-year UG from an institution accredited by either AACSB, EQUIS or AMBA.

Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test.

  • Transcript: A PDF copy of all post-secondary transcripts within the application or in Carleton Central.
  • Letter of Reference: Referees (Teachers, guidance counselors, or Professors) should comment on academics and that references should submit along with the application system.
  • Statement of Intent: Explain the reasons or intentions for pursuing studies in this program, including a description of prior experience.
  • Writing Sample: Students applying for a job, internship, may be asked to provide a writing sample that allows an employer or graduate program to judge student ability to convey a written message.
  • Preference Form: It allows students to outline their preferences for the program specialization or research area.
  • MBA complement form: Students have to fill the Complement form and upload a PDF copy in Carleton Central.

VISA & Work Study


  • Students need a Study Visa to stay in Canada. After receiving the study permit, they can apply for the Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) or Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA).
  • The cost of the Study Visa is 112 USD and valid for the length of the study program, plus an extra 90 days.
  • At the time of VISA application, students need to provide various documents:
    • Application form and Study Plan.
    • Completed IMM 1294 (Application for Study Permit Made Outside of Canada).
    • Letter of Acceptance (Student Information for a Study Visa from Carleton University).

Work Study

  • The Work-Study Program provides students a chance to get at a part-time on-campus job.
  • In On-Campus program students may work up to a maximum of 192 hours for the work-study period and earn up to a maximum of $3,000 for the fall/winter session.
  • The work-study hourly wage is $15.00/hour plus vacation pay.
