Minimum General Requirements

Considering two years of preparatory work, student must achieve at least 65% on each academic course considered for admission. This qualifies the minimum requirement, but admission will be based on merit.

  • Bachelor of Arts – University preparatory English is required. They are also recommended to complete the preparatory courses in Mathematics, Humanities, Social Science and Sciences.
  • Bachelor of Music - University preparatory English is required. They are also recommended to complete the preparatory courses in Mathematics, Humanities, Social Science and Sciences. Students must have performed well in interview or audition. Also, must pass one-hour test in elementary theory.
  • Bachelor of Fine Arts - University preparatory English is required. They are also recommended to complete the preparatory courses in Mathematics, Humanities, Social Science and Sciences. Students must present the portfolio artwork for assessment.
  • Bachelor of Science – University preparatory English, Science and Mathematics are required. Also, two preparatory courses in Sciences and one in either Humanities or Social Science be completed.
  • Bachelor of Commerce - University preparatory English, Science and Mathematics are required. University preparatory English is required. They are also recommended to complete the preparatory courses in Mathematics, Humanities, Social Science and Sciences.

Students must be well prepared in English as this is the primary language of the university. They must complete at least 30 credit hours at the post-secondary institution, recognized by Mount Allison University

Facilities Provided

Mount Allison University provides various basic facilities required be the students apart from accommodation and meal. Services like housekeeping, utilities, laundry ,building maintenance,  internet, cable, phone, and mini fridge.

Meal Plan

MTA offers only single plan i.e. unlimited meal plan costing CAD 4,714 per year. Students gather at Jennings Dining Hall for their meals.

Mountie Money is loaded on the campus card providing access to dining services outlets on campus. Apart from that, one has access to bookstore, photocopying, vending and laundry services.

Financial Aid & Assistance

MTA provides more than CAD 2 million scholarships, bursaries and financial aids every year.

Scholarship Programs offered

  • Bell Scholarship – For those who have strong academic ability, extracurricular involvement and work experience. Both Canadians and International students can apply for this scholarship.
  • University Scholarships – Offered to top students in the programs offered by the university.

Eligibility Criteria for University Scholarships offered to students, they:

  • Must not have MTA entrance scholarship
  • Must have completed 30 credits in the previous fall and academic terms
  • Must have achieved 3.7 or more GPA on those 30 credits

The amount offered by the university is CAD 750.

  • Program Specific Scholarships – These scholarships are recommended by the professors and departments heads.

Bursaries Disbursed

Bursaries aided the students who are financially weak. Students can apply for it but that does not confirm the bursary for the applicant.

  • Both Canadian and International students can apply
  • Both full-time and part-time students can apply
  • International Travel Grant and Bursaries – It provides travel bursary in case the student travels for exchange program, international field trip course and international experiential learning activity. The average award value is CAD 500.
  • MacKay Award – Provided to those who recognizes and encourage environmental leadership among MTA students. The average award value is CAD 2,000.
