Campus and Housing at OCAD University

  • Toronto Campus: OCAD U is located in downtown Toronto neighboring the Art Gallery of Ontario. The campus is well-connected to various parts of the city by public transport and is easily accessible for pedestrians. Classes are small and there is good quality technical support in all OCADU shops and studios.
  • Florence Campus: OCAD U Florence Off-Campus Studies is open to a limited number of students of all departments who have completed at least two years of study. Florence Off-Campus Studies offers different levels of learning: 300 level, 400 level and an Advanced Visual Studies Certificate for graduate students.

OCAD University Application Process

Prerequisites

Prospective students need to start with the following before applying for the University-

  • Statement of Intent (required for all programs)
  • Portfolio (required for all studio BFA, BDes programs) or
  • Writing sample (required for the BA in Visual and Critical Studies)
  • Official transcripts
  • English Language Proficiency Test results

General Eligibility Criteria

  • For Undergraduate program: Applicant must have completed 12 years of secondary education to be eligible.
  • For Graduate program: Candidate should have completed 16 years of post-secondary education to be eligible.

English Language Requirement

An international candidate must prove his/her proficiency in English through English Language Tests accepted by OCAD University.

Following tests and scores are accepted by the University as a measure of English Proficiency: -

Bursaries

Bursaries are small amounts of money provided to supplement other sources of funding. OCAD offers bursaries of varying amounts to help students afford tuition, books and other mandatory fees.

Work while you study

OCAD University has an Institutional Work Study Plan. Students can find on and off campus employment through this program. Students can earn up to CAD 16 per hour in these jobs.

Students are required to meet certain requirements to be eligible for the program. They must apply through the university’s dedicated employment portal called Talent Network.
