Fairleigh Dickinson University
Fairleigh Dickinson University Vancouver Alumni story.
I got to know about the university through the consultant in India, the process was simple, I submitted my docs along with some requirements like IELTS, the fees for one course was about 3000 CAD. I applied for 3 other universities in USA. I liked the weather of Vancouver along with the opportunities to do things outside campus.
IELTS score was 7 bands overall. I loved the program since it was a blend of MS plus MBA,class size was about 20 students per course, I had a total of 30 credits. Minimum requirements were about 3 GPA, plus IELTS score of 6.5 with no backlogs. I also loved the different courses they offered since I loved administrative sciences.
No scholarships are available for international students and the fees for us was pretty high, it was about 3000 CAD per course. There are many banks in India which provide education loans with zero interest, also some states in India which one providing scholarships to international students. Look out for it.
Off campus residence worked out well for me, I shared my apartment with some other international students from my University which helped me in adjusting to the lifestyle of the city. It also helped me with doing my assignments. Food was also made at home which helped me in saving money.
There are a lot of companies that provide entry level jobs, Although the college did not provide any additional help with placements, we had to figure out our own way. I feel this city does not offer as many job opportunities as the students they have. Average pay according to the info I have is about 20 dollars an hour.
No, the college doesn't offer any internship program, that is the only reason I feel it hampered my chances of getting a good job here in Canada right after I finished my education. I feel to secure a job, visit websites like monster.ca, indeed etc. Look for an entry level and work your way up.
